64 Hexagrams-FuXi arrangement

I don't know where to post this question, so I'm putting it in miscellaneous, but maybe it's about feng shui or something else.

I'm going crazy trying to figure out what the numbers on the right side of each hexagram correspond to.


For example H. 1 Heaven


- Why does the top trigram have the celestial stem Jia?
- Why does the lower trigram have the earthly branch Wu?
And why is the upper trigram number 9 and the lower trigram number 1 associated with it?

Does anyone know how it is calculated?
Please help!

Its the elements. Upper 9 is Metal in this case, its a little complex and likely not why you would think. Can see it in Xuan Kong Da Gua玄空大卦 Compass.
Can be used for date selection and very precise Feng Shui calculations. : )

One of the problems with the Five Arts. We think we kinda get it, there is like 10% left, then that 10% become huge vast systems with their own rules and diagrams...

Upper is the element number, in the early heaven arrangement. 4-9 metal, 2-7, fire, 3-8 wood, 1-6 water.

The lower number is the period number.

Period 1 (18 years) : 1864-1881 ☷ (坤) Kūn (Earth)
Period 2 (24 years) : 1882-1905 ☴ (巽) Xùn (Wind)
Period 3 (24 years) : 1906-1929 ☲ (離) Lí (Flame or Fire)
Period 4 (24 years) : 1930-1953 ☱ (兌) Duì (Lake or Marsh)
Period 6 (21 years) : 1954-1974 ☶ (艮) Gèn (Mountain)
