Liu Yao Case Studies / Kong wang filled by myself?
« on: August 17, 2023, 02:43:27 PM »
I had a question regarding a technical issue. I asked if it was favorable to go swimming in the sea. The question comes from the fact that I doubted if the sea was in bathing conditions or not, and if I would enjoy it.

When I saw the empty subject line I said to myself "ok it is obvious that I am not sure if the sea is in condition and it is reflected as empty". Here emptiness point a psychological or mental aspect. So what I did was to go and check it at once and go to the bathing place (I have it 50 meters from home). The result was that I saw the conditions of the sea in better conditions than I thought; it was not quite suitable for swimming (there was some danger at times) but I got to swim. Other people also went swimming. Other people however chose to swim in a puddle for safety.

But of course the hexagram shows a solid emptiness that moves to return vitalization. Can such an emptiness be vitalized by the Hai water Asset? the emptiness is filled by myself? i.e. it fills the emptiness depends on myself to go or not to go? because since the date (neither day nor month) the emptiness is filled. Only the year supports it, which is not common in WWG that the year fills the void.

PS.
- Another view of the matter is that the hexagram only has value or meaning in the moment, but it loses its validity once I decide to go and check it out for myself.

Any comments in this regard would be appreciated.

Liu Yao Case Studies / Elections in Spain.
« on: July 22, 2023, 11:56:09 PM »
The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) has ruled Spain for four years. The 2023 general elections are important because they will determine whether the PSOE can continue to govern or whether there will be a change of government. Election polls show that the People Party (PP) (center-right wing electoral party) is in the lead, but will need the support of the far-right party to govern.

I asked. Who will win

Setting: Self: PP; Other: PSOE; Yong shen: Oficial; Yuan Shen: Asset (voting rate)

My interpretation:

L1.
- Vote of punishment=Tiger (west, right), people disenchanted and angry with the left-wing government's actions.
- Offspring changes to Asset which vitalizes Self. Mobilization to favor PP, also the Active of Si tries to hurt PSOE, in vacuum.

L5. Sibling (voter/action). Active line change with return devitalization with earthworm (abstention, stagnation, resignation, center voter). That Sibling wants to hurt Self but is useless line broken, clashed by the day (not enough left-of-center mobilization).

L6 Others with snake: empty and snake: suspected electoral fraud. Alternatively: empty line=unable to govern or be reelected as president.

I assume that Chou's officer is associated with Other line: month breaker. Chen line is not negatively affected. Then there is Xu officer who clashes with Chen (perhaps power contested, competitive, foul play).

Elections are tomorrow 23 July, on Wu day, which is identified with the self line.

Please give some feedback if you consider it appropriate.

lets you practice!

Liu Yao Case Studies / Choosing the best setting for my turtle.
« on: July 09, 2023, 07:54:35 PM »
Hi everyone,

I have a turtle in a small water pond. I asked what conditions are healthier for my turtle.

Scenario A. Clean the tank aseptically every week and do NOT let any natural biological elements (algae, bacteria, etc) grow.

Scenario B: Clean the tank every week but let any natural biological elements (algae, bacteria, etc.) grow freely.

My doubt comes because I have tried to let microorganisms grow spontaneously; the water literally turns green colour in a few days. Some of these microorganisms are beneficial (nitrifying bacteria, green algae...), which are consumers of nitrogenous substances that are toxic for turtles (ammonia, nitrites); however undesirable bacteria also grow (cyanobacteria) which produce toxins that also harm turtles. As I am not a biologist nor do I have a laboratory to know what microorganisms I have in my pond, nor if the possible cyanobacteria are releasing toxins, I asked the iching which scenario would be the most suitable for the health of my turtle.

Scenario A. Clean the tank aseptically every week with full water change

Scenario B Don't clean the tank aseptically every week. Only partial water change.

About setting. Yong shen Offspring as mascot. Self and Other I am not sure, but I thought before casting that self is turtle and Other could be environment.

Any comments on this matter are appreciated.

Liu Yao Case Studies / Will my home be vandalized tonight?
« on: October 31, 2022, 08:34:44 PM »
On halloween night, street children often throw eggs at the facades of buildings as a form of vandalism. I asked if they would throw eggs at my house tonight. Others halloween nights it has been vandalized, it happens frequently in my house.

setting: Sibling as vandalism; Active/wealth as Property. Parent: as facade (front of house)

https://www.bright-hall.net/wwg/3/44,0,0,0,0,0,0,6,4,2022-10-31,19:17

The sibling in fifth line could move secretly by the day of Si fire. It  also comes with dark turtle (at night, secretly,), however the brother is devitalized by Si fire. Would this shen brother be able to clash the Yin Asset hidden in 2nd line?  IDK. The parent is empty, which could indicate that our facade is not a target today for the vandal children...

Just an attempt to interpret...any comments are welcome. Thanks you.

FREE Divination Request / which class group to choose?
« on: September 21, 2022, 11:43:50 PM »
Hello everyone.

I am starting a course in a school where I have bad memories a long time ago, because at that time I did not like the environment among classmates and I had to leave. I have the option of two morning shifts, same time, but on different days.

What I am looking for is to be comfortable and not to have problems, stress, conflicts, and have a good relationship with classmates.

Additional information. i am already assigned to group 1, but i am thinking if maybe i should ask for a change to group 2 (i don't know if they will grant me the change).

Group 1

Group 2

the Group 1 self line is in the tomb of the day, (the grave/tomb is not always a bad omen, it may mean that I am "protected"). And although it is empty it is filled by the month. It is a static hexagram so apparently everything seems quiet. Also the tiger in the self line does not give me a good vibe.

In Group 2 the self line combines with the month and receives support from the Wu and Si Offspring, although it is slightly devitalized by the Yin Siblings.

the course is 2022/2023 and 2023 is Mao which clashes (Mao-You) with the self line in group 1.

It seems to me that group B seems to be a better option but I am not sure. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks you.

Miscellaneous / Clash in pillar of day or pillar of month.
« on: August 18, 2022, 09:00:18 PM »
I have been looking at a few things about Bazi and Ze Ri, trying to see what influence the date has on the people around me (especially negative influences). It is said that a key factor is the personal breaker day, which is the day whose earthly branch clashes with the birth year pillar (your Chinese zodiac sign).

I wonder...could there also be negative effects if a day clashes with a person's birth pillar of the Day (Master Day) or birth Pillar of the Month?

Liu Yao Case Studies / Is the theory of biorhythms valid?
« on: August 18, 2022, 08:11:03 PM »
Biorhythms are a theory proposed at the end of the 19th century that dictates that human beings have biological cycles (physical, emotional, intellectual, etc.) based on our date of birth. The cycles can range from 23 to 33 days. There are interesting similarities with the 33 year cycle theory, the cycles of the moon, women's menstruation, etc.

It was a very popular system in the 70's, at the height of the "New Age". Even airlines used it to avoid accidents at work, or in competitive sports.

However, in later years it has been discredited by scientific studies. Thus directly the wikipedia entry specifies "pseudoscience"

More info about on the subject:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biorhythm_(pseudoscience)

Out of curiosity I asked the yijing.

Is the theory of biorhythms valid?
- YongShen: Parent (as theory)

https://www.bright-hall.net/wwg/3/13,1,0,1,1,1,1,6,9,2022-08-09,19:01

Complicated hexagram. I think the vital thing here is whether the San He of water is formed (Hai-Mao-Wei). If it is formed it involves the Self line and the Yong shen (Mao parent)

The only way for the San He not to form would be to clash the RL6 You metal. According to Jack Chiu the active line doing the clash must be vitalised by Day to prevent the formation of San He. However You is only vitalised by the month (devitalised by the Wu day) and is far away from the L1 Mao Parent.

What do you think about it? Any comments would be helpful.

Liu Yao Case Studies / Mother left. When will she be back?
« on: July 13, 2022, 09:53:38 PM »
For learning purposes.

This week there was an argument between my parents and me, with the result that my mother got angry and left alone to the second residence. I wonder when she will be back.

clue: it usually doesn't last more than a week on its own...

Liu Yao / Stablish life phases/stage by Month?
« on: July 13, 2022, 07:07:34 PM »
Does it make sense to establish life phases (Shí Èr Cháng Sheng) by month?

It is normal to set them by the day. But I think I read somewhere that setting them by month might make more sense as it covers a longer period of time and a month is a more stable structure.

What would be more appropriate, does anyone use monthly here, and can you share your experience on whether it is accurate?

Liu Yao / Asset as appetite or feeding in matters of illness
« on: July 13, 2022, 06:39:12 PM »
Hi all,

In matters of health/illness the Wife/wealth (Asset) is said to represent either "appetite" or "nourishment/feeding/food". Of course in some cases it represents other things such as medical expenses.

But taking Asset as appetite or nourishment, how do you resolve the contradiction of nourishment generating/producing the Officer (the Ji Shen)? The Asset is the Chou Shen. Nourishment is very important in the sick person, because the illness puts a strain on the patient's biochemistry, and proper nourishment is necessary to support the basal energy expenditure, and thus be able to create adequate defences (inmune system) and healing (aspects covered in the kins Sibling and Offspring).

just wondering... ::)

Miscellaneous / thinking about the next thing to learn...
« on: July 12, 2022, 12:48:27 AM »
Hello, I am thinking of expanding my knowledge in other systems of the five arts, especially something that complements Liu Yao/Yijing. I am interested in qi men dun jia and bazi. Especially interested in another tool that guides me through the challenges of everyday life.

I think it would be best to start with bazi, but I am reluctant to learn it. Maybe I have the mistaken or prejudiced idea that it won't be of much use to me because once I read my chart, that's all there is to it and little more can be done, that is, I see a bad learning effort/benefit ratio. So I don't know if it's worth learning just to read your own chart. Maybe Bazi has more utilities but I don't know them.

Regarding QMDJ, well I have heard that it was mainly used for war, but nowadays it can be used for any circumstance or situation that comes up in your life.

What advice would you give me? If bazi, could you remind me of some books or course for beginners?

Thanks in advance.

Miscellaneous / 64 Hexagrams-FuXi arrangement
« on: July 05, 2022, 10:04:06 PM »
I don't know where to post this question, so I'm putting it in miscellaneous, but maybe it's about feng shui or something else.

I'm going crazy trying to figure out what the numbers on the right side of each hexagram correspond to.

For example H. 1 Heaven

- Why does the top trigram have the celestial stem Jia?
- Why does the lower trigram have the earthly branch Wu?
And why is the upper trigram number 9 and the lower trigram number 1 associated with it?

Does anyone know how it is calculated?
Please help!

Liu Yao / Lower trigram always represents who enquiry (?)
« on: June 26, 2022, 09:02:32 PM »
In one of my Liu Yao books it is said that the lower trigram always represents the querent (or all about the Self/Subject) and the upper trigram represents the object being queried (everything external, Other aspects), independently of the position of the Subject/Other line.

All this in case you want to make an integral analysis, i.e. Liu Yao + additionally Mei Hua aspects.

However, I do not believe that this is always the case and is not an immovable rule. I have seen some cases here in the forum where in sports matters where there are two clearly identified parties (Team A vs Team B), is usually talked about "A territory or Self territory" or "B territory or Other territory" depending on which position of the six lines the Self/Other line appears, and it seems to work. I will try to look for some example in my database...

What do you think about this? do you know what the classic books like wild crane or golden strategy say about it?

15
Hey, here are some noob questions that have been on my mind and seem confusing and somewhat contradictory.

All hexagrams are sample examples and do not represent real queries.

First a couple of quotes from J. Chiu about origining active line (yuan dong-yao) and changed lines (bian yao):

Quote
- The changed line will have the ability to impose of the four effects, vitalization (sheng), devitalization (ke), opposition (chong) and conjunction (He) onto its origining active line or yuan dong-yao.

- Since they are caused by the change of active line, there is no interactions among the changed lines. They are also not subjected to effects from the active line or the invisible line

- The originating active line will lose its ability to impose effects onto any other lines when it is being the opposite of its own changed line. It is know as returning opposition or Hui Tou Chong.

1. First scenario. The changed line drains the source line.

Fire drains to wood.

can the changed line actually drain the sourcce line? Can this be considered a devitalisation effect?

2. Second scenario. The changed line insults the original line

By insulting it, wouldn't that devitalise its line of origin?

3. Third scenario. The changed line exerts opposition effect (chong)

This is the only case where it is clear that the changed line exerts an effect on its line of origin caused by the opposition.

 J. Chiu quote:
Quote
the originating active line will lose its ability to impose effects onto any other lines when it is being the opposite of its own changed line. It is know as returning opposition or Hui Tou Chong

We see in this case that the changed lines exert opposition and it is assumed that opposition in itself exerts some kind of devitalisation effect. But it is a bit counter-intuitive since it is the You metal that controls (devitalises) the Mao wood, and it is the Hai water that controls (devitalises) the Si fire.
And as J. chiu says:

Quote
there is no interactions among the changed lines. They are also not subjected to effects from the active line.

So what happens here? the chong of the changed line on its source line is not equivalent to insulting? if in this case the changed line is insulting its source line and causing an effect on it, why in scenario 2 it does not happen?

I would appreciate some clarification on this issue.
Thanks you.
