Hi ren, you are right than Ban He (half trinity) is not formed between Zi and Chen.  Why Chen cannot entomb Zi?  The reason is already posted by Sacrar in Reply #10

Dear Ren & Jlim

I was left wondering about the idea of an active line (Dòng Yao) capable of entombing another line. So few weeks ago I asked about it.

Is an active line (Dòng Yao) capable of entombing another (inactive) line?
Basic framework: Yong shen: Parent (as a rule or norm)

I assume the yong shen as the active line. In this case RL4 Chou Parent.
This line is at the Month breaker. Self line is empty (self not sure if it is a valid rule or not). Wu Self is identified with L2 change line, changing to Hai Offspring with return devitalisation, and in its vanishing stage (self is not authorised to use this rule). Therefore my interpretation is that this rule cannot be used.
