Hi Tientai, I've been very busy and haven't had a a chance to look at this quiz. But I do occasionally get enquiries about moving. Although not the same, this case reminds me of a consultation that I gave earlier this year: To Move or not, now what? (http://fivearts.org/index.php?topic=457.0)

Senior Tientai,
I'm a bit confused with the story. Does the hex suggest to not move because if he moves, misfortune will happen in Wu year?
Thanks

Hi. @Phoenix
One must examine on this case why the resault is not as good to be expected and not sending out !!!!
But so bad for Himself [his life ..... ]
Read carefully what Wild Crane said:
墓中人,不沖不發。
For Tombs among People, If there is not any Clash, then there is not any Showing [sending out]
舊注:
An Old Annotation:
用爻入墓,諸事費力難成,苦多阻滯,
A Useful line entering a tomb, [mean that] spending great effort for every affair still difficult to finish, Many Hardships clog up [block for completion]
須得日辰動爻衝破,或剋破其墓,方有力也。
Must wait for a Day EB to Clash Break a moving line, possibly by a Breaking [po] Inhibition [ke] this tomb, [Using] a Powerful method [to open this tomb].
占財,
if Making Divination on Money
用爻入墓,喜得日辰剋破,得財無疑。
A Useful line entering the tomb, feel likeness if getting Day EB a Breaking [po] Inhibition [ke], so [wrongly supposing] that will get the money undoubtedly.
若以用空入墓,許以無財者,非也。
If a Useful [line] is empty [kong] and entering the tomb, is wrong also to say that there isn’t any money.
蓋「空而遇沖,沖空則實,墓而剋破,破墓則開」也。
About that「When there is Empty and meet Clash [chong], this Clash make it Solid [real], when there is a tomb and meet a Breaking [po] Inhibition [ke], by this Breaking [po] this tomb will be open.」
野鶴曰:Wild Crane said :
此極有理,屢試屢驗,但要用神有氣,方可許之,
On this extreme case one must be reasonable, examine many times, but always requesting if Yongshen have any energy strength [Qi ], so as this method can allow [to open tomb and sending out].
倘若用神休囚無援,雖遇衝開之日,亦難發矣。
Supposing that Yongshen is in phase of Rest [xiu] or prison [qiu] and without support, although be on Clash [chong] to open by the Day EB, is very difficult to showing [to send out].
Showing something that is not supporting by Energy or Qi ... what else is that except a life threatened bad issue ?
Any opinion is welcome ...

Now, the way I would read it would be - he won't move, will give up or something will prevent him. However he will be very happy after that is decided.
Reason for that is while Zi is very, very weak and it falls into its Tomb, its in such a way that Zi turns to Chen. Meaning his line is Chen after the change, so he is very, very strong now.
The way they read it(it seems) is that all the earth is against Zi. So Zi is very weak, now very weak Zi falls into its own Tomb, meaning a disaster will happen, as the Tomb is not open.
I get the idea, I just don't think it works like that.
Will keep in mind as a rule, if it comes up in future examples... If I see something very clear on same situation will post, as the real life development of the situation here doesn't seem clear enough(did they check in Wu year if something will happen... it seems no.)

Dear @ren ... all hi .
Thanks for participating. ..
Ok . Normally you are right ... but as I scan reading Wild Crane's book I noticed that in some quarries it leaves the subject of Yongshen and try to give another answer .. different of what expected.. (or much ominous. .just to say)
These cases inside this book are n't many but significant.

As a newbie, I don't understand these claims about line Qi
3rd moving line inhibit it [ke],and this Shi self line is in rest and in prison [Qi phase],this year is much unfavourable sign.
If Yong Shen is at Rest, Imprisoned, or without support, although it may meet DB to Clash open, it is difficult to open.
The Self yao is at Rest/Prison and very weak (without Qi)
Day is Chen earth and Month is Wei earth. Shi line is Zi water. Earth (Day and Month), dominates/devitalizes/kills water. The line is therefore in the Dead or Very Weak Qi phase (si phase). Why then the text speaks of phase of Qi Rest (xiu) and imprisoned (qiu)?
:(

@Sacrar , hi
The line is therefore in the Dead or Very Weak Qi phase (si phase). Why then the text speaks of phase of Qi Rest (xiu) and imprisoned (qiu)?
This expression is very usual in Wild Crane s book, with Qi phase naming (according to month timeliness) the strength or deficit of other elemental branches in Hexagram lines ..
Of course the notation as Rest (xiu) and imprisoned (qiu) is a description of low Qi (energy) .. and deficient stage (or Qi phase).. but gives some "images" of Rest or imprisonment ..helpful on judgment on decipher also ..!!

世爻休囚而無氣
Self yao is at Rest / Prison and very weak (without Qi).
Hi Sacrar, the 無氣 means "without Qi", which is the same as dead (Si) phase.
-
Aha, I understand that the phase Si (dead) is named, which shows the true state of Zi water in the month of Wei earth. What I don't understand is why the text also names the states of rest and imprisonment of Qi. Being really Zi water in phase of Si (Dead) cannot be at the same time in phase of Rest (xiu) and imprisoned (qiu). I don't know if I explain myself.
- Rest (Xiu)= yao element generates the earthly branch of the date
- Imprisoned (Qiu)= yao element dominates the earthly branch of the date
- Dead (Si) = yao element is dominated by the earthly branch of date
-
- Rest (Xiu)= yao element generates the earthly branch of the date
- Imprisoned (Qiu)= yao element dominates the earthly branch of the date
- Dead (Si) = yao element is dominated by the earthly branch of date
Just exactly as you said @Sacrar .. don't doubt on this ..
-
- Rest (Xiu)= yao element generates the earthly branch of the date
- Imprisoned (Qiu)= yao element dominates the earthly branch of the date
- Dead (Si) = yao element is dominated by the earthly branch of date
Yes, all of them are correct. The terms above are the same as in Bazi.
By right, each phase should be mutually exclusive. However, in Chinese texts, rest and imprisoned (Xiu and Qiu) is sometimes used as a shortcut to encompass all three: rest, imprisoned and dead (Xiu, Qiu and Si).

Hi all.....
in example above, day EB and month EB are the same, so we have no doubt to determine qi phase of lines. How if day EB and month EB are against each other? Take example below, based on day EB (Si-Snake), line 1 Si and line 4 Wu are strong. But based on month EB (Zi-Rat), they are dead. So, line 1 & 4 are prosper or dead?

Hi, @Phoenix ..
My view on this subject is :
Taking Month (branch) as a Commander of 30 days (branches ) ..
A. For Month subduing/ hurting / clashing and ---- Day producing / Supporting
- This looks like an example of a cloudy weather all Month long but some days occasionally there's sunlight... (Inside this bad condition / situation .. there is a drop of Hope / or opportunity or chance for the better - [swift happenings but not last long ] ).
B. For Month Producing supporting and ------ Day clashing / hurting / insulting.
- This like as a sunny Month with occasionally some days with clouds ... the rest explanation is yours ;) ;)

thank you, senior Tientai

I share a quote from Alex Chiu on the influence of Day versus Month.
Many books taught that if the appointed is struck by the month, the appointed can be described as a dead root with a dying stem. Even something comes to produce the appointed, the appointed cannot be saved. If something comes to hurt the appointed, the appointed can be destroyed with ease. But based on my experience, the power of the month is not as powerful as how other books described. I personally don't focus too much on the month. I mainly focus on the date. I feel that the date is much more crucial than the month. I feel that the month only has 35% of governing power, and the date has 65% of governing power. If the month favors the appointed while the date kills the appointed, the appointed star still is healthy. If the month kills the appointed while the date favors the appointed, the appointed star is strong. If both the month and the date kills the appointed, the appointed star is dead.
My reference book in Spanish only takes into account the influence of the Month. The day is only used for everything else (six animals, 12 life stages...).
Others say it depends on the issue/question. In some cases the influence of the day is more important (e.g. a sports result on the same day of the casting) and in others the month is more important (e.g. how the economy will develop in the next months).
I have also seen masters who do calculations between the date of day and month and take an intermediate value resulting from either adding, multiplying or subtracting the strength of Month and Day.

thanks, Sacrar
the last paragraph really make sense. it would make the reading richer in result.
