Hi Winter,
Each school, calculator designer, has their own method of calculating these charts and defining their usage.
If you wish to use these percentage calculation / methods, best to stick with one school / calculator and understand how they propose using their calculations. You may be a Hurting Officer structure to Joey Yap people, and you may be a Direct Resource structure to the 10 Gods Structure.png people; whatever they mean by “structure” or “profile”, etc.
Trying to pick and chose from different sources can be difficult and confusing. Start and stick with one method / teaching and get a baseline for how things work. Then you can look at others and get a feel for what works for you and what direction to better follow.
My understanding was the calculation methods were derived to help calculate the strength of each element in the chart and the (weighted) percentage ratios of the 10 gods, to make it easy to determine the so-called “Useful God”. I believe it was meant to make it easier to introduce people to Bazi and increase bazi's popularity. But it is my belief, knowing these percentages or what the useful god is, may be nice, but it does not help you understand what the chart wants to do and how the chart defines and benefits the DM. There is more “Stuff” involved.
Hope this helps,
Ren
