hehe thanks : )

One more change hopefully coming(at least I hope so).
The EU has a voting right now for the members country  for removing DTS for all countries part of the Union.

There is a poll here:
https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/2018-summertime-arrangements?surveylanguage=EN
(this is very official and only for EU members)

If we are lucky all Europe will stop changing their clocks 2 times a year.

Then will be adjusting for people born in 1943,1944 and after 1979-to whatever year it changes here I guess haha...
Will be much better for health as well.
So there is hope...  XD

From people I have talked with it seems most vote to remove the change, but keep summer time. So that is constant 1 hour and some minutes difference from true solar time. Still much better then switching it.

That's interesting, please keep us updated on the poll results!

To adopt summer time or winter time depends on each country's decision.  For Bulgaria, maybe summer time is better. But in other countries, it may instead be better to adopt winter time, otherwise there would be a place where the sun rises at 9:45 am in January!

Gmuli, it's getting closer to reality!

https://cw33.com/2018/08/31/eu-plans-to-abolish-daylight-saving-time-and-make-summer-last-forever/

The European Union is to propose ending twice-yearly clock changes after a large-scale public survey, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said Friday.

According to Juncker, more than 80% of EU citizens want to abolish daylight saving time and instead remain on the time used during summer instead.
At the moment, each EU member state puts clocks forward one hour on the last Sunday of March and back again on the last Sunday in October.

“This debate about summertime, wintertime has been around for many years here,” Juncker told German broadcaster ZDF.
“Many people are contributing to this debate. We did a survey, a public survey. Millions responded and think that in the future we should have summertime all year round. So that’s what will happen.”
“The people want this; we will do this,” he said.

For any change to go into effect, legislation must be drafted and win approval from the 28 member nations and the European Parliament.

One of the chief critics of daylight saving time has been Finland, which has one of the most northerly capital cities in the EU.
Over 70,000 Finns signed a petition last October to urge the government to move away from daylight saving time.

Those in favor of the time change say the extra light in the morning during standard time and and additional evening light in summer can help prevent road accidents.

Yes, Dao, let's take an example, Paris in France.  The longitude is 2o, which is so close to longitude of 0.  But, the time zone is GMT+1, and GMT+2 for summer.  If the French government decides to follow to use GMT+2 all the time, then on Jan 1, 2019, the sun will rise at 09:45 a.m., even further than the true solar time!

So, hopefully, France decides to change the time zone to GMT+0 all the time.  In that case, on the same date, the sun will rise at 07:45 a.m., which would be a more reasonable change in my opinion. Would you agree?

Maybe the school times will be adjusted so that in the winter they don't start giving lessons in the dark!

I would choose GMT+1 for The Netherlands, too. For one month only it would be dark around 15:30. At least we would avoid going out in the coldest hour of the day, before the dawn.

For those who are curious when the sun rises and sets at any of the time of year, you can look up such information in the Sunrise and Sunset Calculator in timeanddate.com. For example, for Paris on January 1, 2018, you go to the page https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/france/paris

Here is an extract of that page:

January 2018 — Sun in Paris
Jan   Sunrise           Sunset
1   08:44 ↑ (125°)   17:04 ↑ (235°)

This means the sun rises at 08:44 a.m. and sets at 17:04 p.m.
But if France changes to summer time all year round, then on Jan 1, the sun will rise at 09:44 a.m.

US seems to be heading to the same decision:

https://edition.cnn.com/2022/03/15/politics/senate-daylight-saving-time-permanent/index.html

Its not done yet, but considering the result of the vote there I would guess it may work out. As far as True Solar Time goes, this makes calculating easier, now we won't need to care about changing autumn/spring(though we still would have to for charts before the decision), however it will still be 1 hour difference from Solar Time, only it will be there all year.

Some countries did that and it turned out its not as good as it seemed, so we will see how it goes. But even if its accepted like that, both in EU countries and in US, may change later.

Meanwhile if someone is curious how its going in EU, its still here:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-03-11/will-daylight-saving-time-ever-end
(this is from a year ago, but we still have it).
