The other posters here were contemplating the other asset lines. But the first line is void.  Alfred Kee (page 168) says a moving line which is void is useless. Alex says an empty (void) line is inactive.
Jack chiu says that a line will be de-neutralised if it is in the Strong or Very Strong state for the Month. As it is the case Chou Active is strong by day and Month and therefore it is de-neutralised (out of void)

What about the fourth line, which is also an asset? That is bound to the day. Alex says “If a moving line is bounding to the month or the date, it is tied up and cannot move.”
But four line is not an moving line. It is a still / quiet line, moving secretly or silently (as they say), being in conjunction (Liu He) with the Day. So it moves...

On the other hand, an moving void line will eventually come out of the void and become useful, so it may mark an upcoming event (generally, I'm not saying it is in this case).

Liu Yao / Re: Offspring as intelligence and skills (?)

An illustrative case. I asked how successful I would be in the medium term within an alliance in a wargame, bearing in mind that my success depends on the success of the alliance (team play), and therefore it is an interdependent success.

It was a quick query so I didn't establish a solid frame of reference, so maybe it can be read as a "general framework", as Gmuli says. But I did think that if I saw a Offspring moving it would be bad for the success of the Alliance (childishness, lack of seriousness, lack of involvement, lack of responsibility and lack of commitment).

The case in this hexagram is that we see Offspring moving, but it is in the resting stage (xiu). Since it is a game and implies fun it becomes confusing to read, since Offspring can represent either that, fun, as well as strategy, planning, team coordination (intelligence/skills).

The relative/kin Offspring is sometimes associated with Production (Output) and sometimes with Intelligence/Skills.

Can anyone give ideas of the underlying logic where Offspring represents intelligence, skills, and at the same time is ruining/destroying the Officer (power, status, control). How is this paradox solved?

Generally if we ask for a job, we have the Officer as Yong shen, and this shows our ability to successfully do the job. On the other hand, if we see a Offspring moving around destroying the Officer, we usually read it as "inability/incompetence" for that job.

So how can Offspring be intelligence and skills?

If I am not mistaken, your actual question and issue, is that you believe that work/job needs intelligence/skills and the ability to produce something out from it, and because of this, you are having trouble understanding why in WWG, the Offspring line (that represents production, intelligence/skills) would be detrimental to work/a job. Correct?

Yes, that is one of the problems, but not the main point. Since we can see the Officer as skills/control Offspring can simply be all that spoils skills/control. Then the problem comes what do we do when we see Offspring as skills/intelligence, in which cases does it apply, and if we ask about labour issues we shouldn't associate intelligence and skills with Offspring... I don't know if I make myself clear.

It seems that depending on the topic or issue we are asking about we have to set the framework before casting what Offspring will stand for:
- Or Production/outputs
- Or incompetence/immaturity/irresponsibility
- Or Intelligence/skills
- Or Happiness/satisfaction/fulfilment

But we cannot choose both at the same time, otherwise we run into logical problems.

It may also be that Offspring has a controlling (ke) relationship with the Officer (for example a a line of resting Offspring controlling a line of Officers in associate or prosperous status), in case it is not a destructive relationship. So in that case it is not out of logic.

Liu Yao / Re: Solar date in northern and southern hemisphere
« on: May 21, 2021, 07:32:03 PM »
Suppose we use a solar date and  solar chinese calendar. Would the whole planet be under the same influence of the same month pillar and day pillar (terrestrial branches), whether in the northern or southern hemisphere?

If so, what doesn't fit me is that in the southern hemisphere it is Autumn season and in the northern hemisphere it is Spring. So if we use Liu Yao with a solar date in a southern hemisphere country, some things would be out of place or somewhat incongruous. Unless the principle of synchronicity prevails and the hexagram obtained for a southern hemisphere querent gets the information adapted and ready to be used with the Chinese solar calendar. Something like this... I don't know...

Its difficult hex, I would have gone for line 4 (and I can't explain why, as I wouldn't have any idea how to read that a year ago).

So it was You day... Then nothing much to say, all seem clear (moving asset line, self line bla bla).

I would also have looked at the fourth line as yong shen. And even knowing the result I am not sure that yong shen is the third line. First of all, because it goes outside cartesian logic, since it is money that is expected to be received from an external third party, the bank, and not money that is already in the Self line. Even more so when the fourth line and external trigram, Wei Assets, moves secretly towards the Self line. Unless we take both Wei and Chen as focus.

This was aimed at the QMDJ topic. : )

I suggest the moderator to move the messages to the correct thread, otherwise confusion will arise.

FREE Divination Request / Re: The result of the GO (Wei-qi) game

Thank you very much, Sacrar. Your feedback is much appreciated.

what was the result of the game?

30
And it seems I would be wrong, as if we look at the timing seems clear its more related to line 1 (also can't explain why, other then the obvious end of void).

Yet from what I can see at this point it seems the Useful God or Focus or Matter Element would be on line 1

I fail to understand why you focus on line 1. On 13/05, when the money was received, it was Xin-You metal Day, and Zi Parents and Chou Asset are still empty.
