How do I mitigate transit noise outside my rooms!
« on: December 07, 2024, 09:56:41 PM »
I hope this isn't too difficult to read but how do I mitigate transit (not bus but similar to light rail) noise entering my building.  Soundproofing does not work due to the low vibration; requesting to the transit company falls on deaf ears... either they don't really care whether their vehicles are affecting me.

Advice appreciated, thanks

### Qimen Dunjia Analysis Based on Your Chart

Looking at the chart provided, here’s a step-by-step interpretation and how it relates to mitigating the noise issue:

---

### **Core Question**: How to mitigate light rail noise affecting your building?

#### **1. Focus Palace**
   - The **Southeast (巽 Palace)** hosts the **Delusion Door (杜门)**. This palace relates to barriers, isolation, and ways to "block" or reduce unwanted effects. It's an appropriate palace for your situation, as you're asking about creating a "barrier" for noise.
   - **Earth Element (Earth Palace)** in this position suggests practical, grounded solutions (structural changes, dense materials, etc.).

**Interpretation**: Focus on solutions involving **blocking and insulating** the vibrations. Materials like heavy drapes, mass-loaded vinyl, or resilient wall structures are indicated.

---

#### **2. Key Energy Interactions**
   - The **Ji Earth (己)** Heavenly Stem resides in the **Southeast (巽 Palace)**. This suggests you may face obstacles or delays in resolving the problem. Persistence is required, and you may need professional help to succeed.

   - The **Delusion Door** is supported by **Assistant Star (辅星)**, showing that help from knowledgeable individuals (engineers or acoustic consultants) will improve your situation.

---

#### **3. Remedy Directions**
   - The **South (Li Palace, 离宫)** contains the **Outlook Door (景门)**, which signifies creativity and outward-facing solutions. It also has the **Black Tortoise (玄武)**, which can relate to stealthy or indirect solutions.

   **South Recommendations**:
   - Place **dampening materials** or landscaping (e.g., trees, barriers) on the southern side of your property to intercept noise.
   - Consider exploring "stealthy" sound masking techniques like white noise machines that blend into the environment.

---

#### **4. Opponent’s Palace (Transit Company)**
   - The **East (Zhen Palace, 震宫)** hosts the **Injury Door (伤门)**. This signifies the transit company’s actions might continue to "injure" your peace, and they may be unresponsive (as you've already experienced).

**Interpretation**: Direct negotiation or complaints to the company may not work, as they are likely entrenched in their processes. Focus on remedies you can control.

---

#### **5. Personal Support**
   - The **Northwest (Qian Palace, 乾宫)** has the **Open Door (开门)**, symbolizing opportunities and external assistance.
   - The **Moon Star (阴)** here indicates nighttime impacts and potential solutions related to regulating or mitigating night vibrations.

   **Northwest Recommendations**:
   - Consider professional consultation (acoustic engineers or structural experts).
   - Remedies aimed at reducing nighttime noise vibrations, like soundproof sleeping areas or vibration-isolating pads, may help.

---

#### **6. Auspicious Timing**
   - If you’re planning to implement changes or engage experts, pick a date with **favorable Qimen energy**. Avoid months or days ruled by unfavorable Earth (e.g., when Earthly Branches like 丑, 辰, 戌, 未 dominate).

---

### **Summary Recommendations**
1. **Practical Solutions**:
   - Focus on **barriers and isolation** in the **Southeast (巽 Palace)**. Structural changes like reinforced walls or anti-vibration materials are key.
   - In the **South (离宫)**, introduce landscaping or sound-masking devices to disrupt noise pathways.

2. **Seek Help**:
   - Engage professionals for advanced solutions. This is indicated by the **Assistant Star (辅星)** in the **Southeast**.

3. **Indirect Solutions**:
   - Use stealthy methods like white noise generators or vibration-absorbing furnishings, especially in areas affected by **Northwest** influences (nighttime issues).

4. **Avoid Relying on the Transit Company**:
   - The **East Palace (震宫)** indicates that the transit company is unlikely to act in your favor.

5. **Timing**:
   - Begin solutions on auspicious days aligned with **South or Southeast directions**.

If you'd like a specific date for action or further analysis, feel free to ask!

Thank you for your feedback! Does having the Lingxing in my destiny sector means I am destined to be surrounded intrusive noise?

[Hidden post: You need reply to this topic to see it.]

I have similar experience with low frequency bass noise in my neighborhood. It's not a sound. More like vibration or energy, so we can't record it with our mobile phone.

This is how it feels like:

---

---

- Do you often witness conflicts all around you?
- Do you feel people don't respect your space and they often quarrel in your presence?
- Are you surrounded by people who are talkative, gossipy and they have loud voices?
- Do you have a parent/sibling that loves blaring noise and rarely use a headphone when listening to music?

Look out for anything that disturbed your peace by means of sound, because that noise could be a sign of unpeaceful mind and life.

We might prefer solitary life, but our destiny doesn't allow us to feel at peace and keeps reminding us of society. We are both annoyed and seek help from other people.

It's tricky to mitigate. If we tell them to remove that noise, we will hear other noises coming from elsewhere and we can't tell exactly where is the source of the noise. The type of noise is changing. From my experience, I got dog barking, people quarreling, renovation, DIY activities (drilling/chainsaw/hammering), interchangeably alongside the low vibration noises.

In my case, the mitigation doesn't involve removing the noise but adding some kind of annoying noise closer to us....playing with small children.

I gave up and chose to endure the low vibration noise. I came to agreement with my neighbor about the time, duration and intensity.  :(

There's a sign of noise in my ZWDS chart. It's the bright Lingxing star in my happiness sector. And happiness is the neighbor of property sector.

Meanwhile, you have Lingxing in destiny sector and it's also bright. Aside from the noise pollution following our life, bright Ling Xing in happiness and destiny sectors may represent musical talents.

Lingxing is related to joyful and invasive noise. Your life needs it to function.

Do you feel like having that problem for a long time constantly?

It's been like this for almost 3 years now.

So it's not really an integral part of your life.

Mine has been ongoing from 2018. But if I contemplate further into the past, my life is always full of noise: family conflicts, children, my sister's taste in loud music and renovations. I grow accustomed to those noises. Little did I know that the most challenging noise will be this low frequency, bass speaker noise.

Do you live pretty much alone in the last 3 years with minimal conflict?

Before the transit issue, I didn't really experienced this.  Mainly it's a infrastructure problem (either from the transit vehicles or the rail tracks embedded in the ground) and when this vehicle passes it creates a very loud thumping noise.  If only the company listens to my complaints... It's like they don't understand how noisy they are.

You should report the company to local authority.

I did this to my offending neighbor THRICE. In 2018, 2021 and 2024. Two are outdoor restaurants and 1 is an outdoor warehouse renting only 3 years in the same place. Prior to 2018, that place was indoor the whole time. Then it becomes a source of noise in the last 6 years.

I have a feeling that you won't be able to silence that noise entirely.

Hi @Kat-metaphysics,
You have an interesting case. My first advice would be to recommend relocating, as remedies can only do so much and won't fully mitigate the negative effects of living in a house like this. It's similar to asking someone to place a wealth-generating picture on their northern wall while the northern area itself is in complete disarray.

If relocation isn’t an option, here’s how I would analyze your situation.
Your issue is a combination of 声煞 (Noise Killing-Qi) and 动气煞 (Moving Energy Sha). Both problems are quite challenging, which is why relocation is my first recommendation. Typically, those affected by these two forms of 煞 (Sha) in their home experience health issues and mental clarity problems, but their impact extends to all areas of life—from relationships to wealth. The direction from which these 煞 Sha's originate can tell us more about which aspect of life is being emphasized. Fortunately, most remedies address both types of 煞 Sha simultaneously.

First, buy a Bagua mirror and hang it so it faces the source of the sound.
Next, invest in a few large indoor plants and place them on the side where the noise is coming from. I recommend using medium to large earthy pots, such as terracotta. Alternatively, you could create a bamboo wall to act as a natural sound and vibration barrier.
There are also more specific remedies, but these would require knowing the exact direction of the noise and vibrations, which is difficult without me physically being there with a luopan.

For the noise issue, one quick fix that offers excellent value is high-quality foam earplugs for sleeping. Getting good sleep can remedy about 50% of the problems you’re experiencing.

I hope this helps!

Hi TenVirtues, thank u so much for you advice.  Relocating/moving is not an option currently and I've even mentioned that to the transit company.  The source of this noise is from the north, my bedroom area is also in the same sector which is why it's so detrimental to be constantly experiencing it.  For the bagua mirror, should I place from inside the window or outside the unit? I also want to mention that the exterior also has traffic lights and an electrical pole, which I feel is Sha chi on top of numerous sha chi 😞.  The snake year is coming, being a travelling horse I wonder would that give me an opportunity to move?

Hi @Kat-metaphysics,
If the sound and vibrations are coming from the north and directly affecting your bedroom, it is indeed a challenging situation. Is there any way you could change rooms within the apartment? Alternatively, you could try rearranging your bed to position it as far away as possible from the source of the vibrations.

If this issue is in your bedroom, I would not recommend using a Bagua mirror. However, if your window is more towards the northwest side, you could hang wind chimes outside the window. Make sure to choose wind chimes that produce a soothing sound you enjoy.

When noise and vibrations come from the north, they can significantly affect mental clarity, which, in turn, impacts wealth and relationships. It could increase vulnerability to scams and poor decision-making. Additionally, because the north is associated with wealth in Fengshui, mitigating these issues is more complex. Most remedies for such 煞 Sha’s involve grounding and increasing Earth Qi to stabilize the vibrations and noise. However, using strong Earth grounding remedies in the north could impede wealth energy, so we need a balanced approach.

The best remedy for this situation is to place large plants, such as an Areca Palm or a Money Tree, near the walls or windows where the vibrations and noise are entering. These plants can help balance the energy without disrupting the wealth aspect of the north.

Regarding whether you will be able to move next year, this cannot be determined solely by analyzing your 驿马 (Yi Ma). I would need to examine your entire chart to make a more educated guess.

From a Fengshui perspective, if you moved into this apartment during the past three years—specifically during the 寅卯辰 (Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon) years—it suggests there could be Earth-related issues in your chart. This would lead me to make a prediction that the last 3 years since you moved in has been quite unstable for you...

I hope this helps!
