Search Chart By Pillars
« on: January 16, 2019, 06:45:10 PM »
Hello everyone,
sometimes when you study BaZi, you can find chart examples, but you don't know what is exact date.
It is sometimes hard to guess the date and input the chart in the calculator.

I have just programmed a new feature that makes this easier. This still being tested and not yet visible to the public.
But you can already test the feature by following this link:
https://bazi-calculator.com/?in=pil

Simply speaking, you can input BaZi chart by four pillars instead of providing the date.
If you found any issues, please let me know, remember this is still test version. I'd lie if I told that it wasn't pain in the neck to program it ;)
The feature will be officially published after tests.

Thank you for providing another feature!

So, this is basically the "Famous chart search" that always returns the birth timing, even if there is no famous person born with these four pillars. I was thinking that you could merge this new feature with the "Famous chart search "feature into one, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea.

About this new feature itself:
-  Can we add "any" for the Hour Pillar?
-  Is it feasible to make it return more than one date?  For example, a person born in 1976 and 1856 may have exactly the same four pillars chart.

It's not an important feature, but when people read old Chinese Bazi books, we see charts from the older dynasties, and the writer only includes the four pillars without a date.

In that case, I would open my paid Android Calendar application, which is a favorite program of mine.   They can return very old dates with a specific set of four pillars.  This is not a Bazi app., but a Calendar app.

So, this is basically the "Famous chart search" that always returns the birth timing, even if there is no famous person born with these four pillars.

This feature looks similar to "Famous charts search", but in fact the code is completely different, because in famous charts database I already have 4 pillars calculated based on dates, so I only look it up, while here I have to do opposite conversion - from 4 pillars to gregorian date.  :-\ That was the difficult part (especially guessing missing days in months).
But from user perspective it's about the same - looking for birth dates based on 4 pillars.  :D

About this new feature itself:
-  Can we add "any" for the Hour Pillar?
-  Is it feasible to make it return more than one date?  For example, a person born in 1976 and 1856 may have exactly the same four pillars chart.

Thank you very much Darma for useful suggestions. :) New version uploaded.
Listing many years as well as ignoring birth hour was not a problem.

Thank you for considering my suggestions!  Just as a test, I entered these 3 pillars:

 H   D    M   Y

?  Ding  Yi  Bing
?  You  Wei  Wu

And I get the following results:

Similar dates:
1966-8-6, 1786-7-20, 1726-8-4, 1546-7-9, 1486-7-24, 1306-7-9, 1246-7-24, 1066-7-9, 1006-7-24, 826-7-9, 766-7-24, 586-7-9, 526-7-24, 346-7-9, 286-7-24, 106-7-9, Search Famous Charts

That's very nice!  We see that prior to 1966, there is no date in 1906 and 1846 that matches the above 3-pillar set.  Why did I think of these two missing years?  Because 1906 = 1966 - 60, and 1846 = 1906 - 60.  Your program is correct, because we should know that a four-pillar set does not always repeat itself every 60 years.  And I have verified it with my Chinese calendar.

I see that the results are ordered Year-Month-Date, for example 1966-8-6 means 1966, August 6.  This is my favorite order (which is how the Chinese say it in their language), but I am not sure that other users understand this order.  Another suggestion is to put a legend, something like
Similar dates (Y-M-D).

By the way, I did this test while having the YMDH order unchecked.

Hi Voytek,

As I was helping a client with a cesarean birth date selection, I used your new feature to retrieve a date from a specific Bazi chart.  The Year and Month Pillars are Ji Hai and Bing Yin, respectively.  But alas, I only got dates for 1959 and prior! Actually I was expecting a date in Feb 2019

Would you consider adding future dates in the search results?  You may also consider this as part of the premium feature... ;)
