don't know if Chen earth in the third changed line is also considered an active line or merely a "changed line". Chen faces (chong) the Xu in the sixth line, so it also would avoid forming the San he, according to Chiu's rules (Although in this case Chen is not vitalized by the day.)

I think a progressive changed line doesn't have the "authority" to clash any other line in an Hexagram .. just only to produce or to combine with other lines ... (Jack Chiu 's writings ).
But the original active line can do this clashing with other lines ...
On your above writing .. the clash of Chen "changed line " with a component of fire San he  doesn't occur  ..

One may think "but the Wu month supports 4° line Wu".  I don't know if it's enough to counteract the effects of Zi clash.  The effect of day is stronger than the month, I understand.

Note that this clash from the Day gives sort of a hidden movement.

It's complicated, that's Liu Yao's big problem, some rules are not clear and every master/school uses rules that others don't use.

To add more confusion, Gmuli use the rule of an active line like Wu that is clashed by the Day (Zi) loses its ability to exert vitalization/devitalization forces on other lines, and could only do combination (Liu He) or clash (chong).

In that case, I would still say that the fire triangle is formed.

I'd agree, since the Wu is strong in the month and therefore it is not broken 破.
