Title: Help me to comprehend my chart
Post by: Korobokle on March 25, 2025, 03:02:30 PM
Hello everyone, newbie here…  ;D

My chart :

Hour   Day    Month    Year     LP
Ren      Yi        Wu       Jia      Xin
Wu     Chou    Chen     Xu      Wei

I’m male.

Please rate n correct my reading :

Yi wood born in the end of spring. Root is in graveyard. Fan yin between year and month pillar. Abundant earth. Weak self. Not enough support. Worsened by absence of sun (Bing) to grow. That means Yong Shen are Jia, Gui/Ren.

Current lp is another fan yin. Xin wei vs Yi chou. I’m wondering if Xin can be Yong Shen as well since it would strengthen Ren in hour stem…?

Earth clashes would reveal everything hidden which are already present in stems. I have Xin hidden in chou and Xu. But I also have hidden yi in Chen. Does that mean the fan yin between Xin wei X yi chou would amplify the clash between Xin against yi?

I heard that a clash can negate harm (?) Can wei negate Chou-Wu harm?

Wei is clashing my day branch, considering I’m still single, what would that mean?

Previous lp was Geng Wu n it was tough as hell. Xin Wei arrived in 2023. Both 2023 n 2024 are awful as well.

Would you please give enlightenment what’s in store for me in this Xin wei lp?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Korobokle,

Jia Wu is not a clash. Jia and Geng clash. Jia restrains Wu (in five element theory).

Okay so how different would it be for the interpretation?

Would you please answer the other questions btw?  ;D

Hi @coldpillow

I dearly appreciate your answer, enlightening indeed. ;)

Previous lp is Geng Wu. And it was bad tho… perhaps because of the presence of Wu? Amplifying chou Wu harm? The Geng clashed Jia (?)

Current lp is Xin wei, Xin is supported by wei(?) so should it be good? I mean better than Geng Wu? But so far it’s bad  :-[

Yes, I have conflicts especially with family. That’s why I prefer solitude. :(

Indeed I have bad temper. Destructive tendency? Like what?

Crimes? So far I never underwent any of those things n I hope I won’t have to…

@coldpillow

:o Damn on point!

I suffered from depression since 2012. 2018 was the pinnacle point. 2016 was good. 2017 was the beginning of my downfall. 2019 was still bad. 2020 n 2021 was fairly good.

But I thought harm would prevent the combination? So wei can combine with Wu? And next year is Bing Wu year. I’m wondering if lp could interact with annual pillar…?

Btw you said my chart attracts conflict. Any idea how to alleviate that?

Hey Korobokle,

May I ask what type of work do you do?
What did you study in school or trade?

Thanks

@coldpillow

I’m confused cuz another person ever said that LP won’t interact/combine with AP.

Wei would manage to combine with Wu if the season is correct and supported, right? Next year the fire would be outta control then? What’s the plausible scenario?  ???

Dang it, I’ve always been hindering people to avoid conflicts. Yeah, but I guess you’re right, I’m supposed to be wiser as I age. Total destruction? You mean suicide? lol

Well, I’m struggling n I’ve been facing obstacles all the time. It’s getting better n promising in 2021-2022. Then I went downhill again in 2023-2024.

I burnt many bridges, I no longer have real friends.

**Bazi Analysis & Guidance:**

### **Chart Overview:**
- **Day Master:** Yi Wood (阴木) born in late spring (Chen month), Earth-dominated season.
- **Elements:** Strong Earth presence (Wu, Chen, Chou, Xu, Wei), weak Yi Wood, with Metal (Xin) and Water (Ren) in the hour pillar.
- **Key Features:**
  - **Weak Yi Wood** with roots in Chou (graveyard), struggling against abundant Earth.
  - **Fan Yin (伏吟)** in the month pillar (Wu over Chen) and clash between Xin Wei LP and Yi Chou day pillar.
  - **Current LP:** Xin Wei (Metal-Goat, 2023–2033).

---

### **Key Weaknesses & Conflicts:**
1. **Earth Overwhelms Wood:** Excess Earth exhausts Yi Wood, causing stagnation (career/relationships) and indecision.
2. **Metal-Wood Clash:** Xin (Metal) in the LP clashes with Yi Wood (day stem), creating stress unless mediated by Water.
3. **Wei-Chou Clash:** Earth vs. Earth clash in LP/day branch disrupts the spouse palace (Chou), suggesting relationship hurdles.
4. **Water Scarcity:** Lack of strong Water (Gui/Ren) to nourish Wood and counterbalance Earth.

---

### **Yong Shen (Useful Gods):**
- **Primary:** **Water (Ren/Gui)** to nourish Wood and weaken Earth.
- **Secondary:** **Wood (Jia)** to strengthen Yi and drain Earth.
- **Metal (Xin)** is a **double-edged sword:** It can harm Yi Wood but may indirectly help if it generates Water (e.g., Xin → Ren in the hour). Use cautiously.

---

### **Current Xin Wei LP (2023–2033):**
- **Challenges:**
  - Xin Metal clashes Yi Wood, exacerbating stress.
  - Wei Earth clashes Chou (spouse palace), potentially triggering hidden elements (Gui Water, Yi Wood). However, Earth clashes often bring turbulence rather than resolution.
  - Earth-heavy years (2024 Jia Chen) may worsen stagnation.
- **Opportunities:**
  - **2023 (Gui Mao):** Gui Water helps, but Mao clashes Chou—expect temporary relief with setbacks.
  - **2025 (Yi Si):** Yi Wood reinforcement could ease Earth’s pressure.
  - **Water/Wood Years (e.g., 2026 Bing Wu):** Fire generates Earth (caution), but 2032 Ren Zi (Water-Rat) may offer relief.

---

### **Recommendations:**
1. **Strengthen Wood & Water:**
   - **Colors:** Green (Wood), black/blue (Water).
   - **Directions:** East (Wood), North (Water).
   - **Career:** Creative/fluid roles (design, education, travel) over rigid/earth-heavy fields (real estate, construction).
2. **Mitigate Earth:**
   - Avoid excessive yellow/brown tones and stagnant environments.
   - Incorporate movement (travel, exercise) to counter Earth’s inertia.
3. **Relationships:**
   - Seek partners with strong Wood/Water in their charts to balance Earth.
   - Cultivate flexibility and open communication to soften Earth’s stubbornness.
4. **Timing:**
   - Leverage Water/Wood years (e.g., 2032) for major decisions.
   - Be cautious in Earth/Fire years (2024–2025) to avoid burnout.

---

### **Conclusion:**
The Xin Wei LP will test resilience due to Earth/Metal clashes, but strategic focus on Water/Wood can alleviate pressures. Relationships may stabilize post-2025 as Wood gains strength. Consult a professional for personalized rituals/timing. Stay adaptable—Earth’s challenges often build long-term strength for Yi Wood’s growth. 🌱

I see… but if the fire is too strong, Bing n Xin might combine but they won’t manage to transform into water right?

Hi @smsek , thanks for the analysis.
You give caution about next year due to the strong fire which would strengthen the abundant earth even further. What’s the plausible manifestation according to you?

Yea but don’t you think Yi wood doesn’t like meeting another yi? Even though there is Jia in Hai.

Doesn’t matter anyway, I don’t think I would last until those LPs. I might be dead in Jia Xu LP, lol.  :P

So this Xin Wei is just as bad as Geng Wu? It’s such a bummer I gotta endure the hardship for a long time.  :'(

Yea but my 20s been tough, I’m entering my 30s n still no significant changes  :(
I’m both physically and mentally exhausted. So getting married in this lp is not a good idea?

Hey, sorry takes long to respond, lol.

Btw outta curiosity,

As a male yi wood. My spouse element is supposed to be Wu earth right? But yi ain’t strong enough to penetrate Wu. My month pillar is Wu Chen. So yi prefers ji earth, right?

Someone ever told me that my future wife would be (slightly) older n wealthy (Wu Chen?).

So how is it? So my spouse would still be Wu or would it be Ji? Or do I have the chance to choose between the two?

**Analysis of Your Bazi Chart and Xin Wei LP (2023–2033):**

### **1. Core Chart Dynamics**
- **Day Master**: **Yi Wood** (阴木) born in late spring (Chen month).
  - **Weak Self**: Yi Wood sits on **Chou** (Earth branch with hidden Gui Water and Xin Metal). Chou is a "graveyard" for Wood, weakening its roots. The chart is dominated by **Earth** (Chou, Chen, Xu, Wei), which exhausts Wood.
  - **Lack of Support**: No strong Wood (Jia in Year is distant) or Water (Gui/Ren is hidden but weak). Fire (Bing/Ding) is sparse, so Earth remains unchecked.

- **Key Clashes**:
  - **Jia (Year) vs. Wu (Month)**: Fan Yin clash (甲戊冲), destabilizing the Wood-Earth balance.
  - **Xin Wei (LP) vs. Yi Chou (Day)**: Xin Metal directly clashes Yi Wood (金克木), while Wei clashes Chou (Earth vs. Earth, stirring hidden elements).

### **2. Yong Shen (Useful Gods)**
Your **Yong Shen** are **Water (Gui/Ren)** and **Wood (Jia/Yi)** to nourish and support Yi Wood.
- **Xin Metal (LP)**: While Xin produces Water indirectly (金生水), it also directly harms Yi Wood. Use cautiously—prioritize Water to mediate (e.g., Ren in Hour can help if activated).
- **Hidden Elements**:
  - Chou: Gui Water (useful) and Xin Metal (harmful).
  - Wei: Yi Wood (supportive) and Ding Fire (neutral).
  - Clashes may expose Gui Water and Yi Wood, but Earth dominance remains an issue.

---

### **3. Xin Wei LP (2023–2033)**
**Xin Wei** = **Metal (Xin) + Earth (Wei)**. This LP exacerbates Earth and Metal, both harmful to weak Yi Wood.

- **Key Challenges**:
  - **Xin Metal**: Attacks Yi Wood, creating stress (career, health, relationships).
  - **Wei Earth**: Intensifies Earth’s draining effect (financial/emotional exhaustion).
  - **Wei-Chou Clash**: Activates hidden elements but destabilizes the spouse palace (Chou). Relationships may face obstacles or require extra effort.

- **Recent Years**:
  - **2023 (Gui Mao)**: Gui Water (good) and Mao Wood (support), but Mao-Wei clash adds instability.
  - **2024 (Jia Chen)**: Jia Wood (strong support) clashes with LP Xin (stress), while Chen adds Earth. Mixed results—grab opportunities but manage stress.

---

### **4. Recommendations**
- **Strengthen Water/Wood**:
  - **Careers**: Creative fields, education, environmental work (Wood); travel, logistics, or fluid industries (Water).
  - **Colors/Environment**: Green (Wood), blue/black (Water). Avoid excessive Earth (yellow) and Metal (white).
  - **Relationships**: Seek partners with strong Water/Wood in their charts to balance your Earth.

- **Upcoming Cycles**:
  - **2025 (Yi Si)**: Yi Wood support with Si Fire (neutral).
  - **2026–2027 (Bing Wu/Ding Wei)**: Fire strengthens Earth—caution needed.
  - **2033–2043 (Ren Shen LP)**: Ren Water arrives—significant relief and growth potential.

---

### **5. Conclusion**
The Xin Wei LP is challenging but manageable with strategic focus on Water/Wood. Protect your health (Earth weakens Wood’s immune system) and avoid overcommitment. Post-2033, the Ren Shen LP will bring better opportunities. Stay resilient—your chart has hidden resilience through Yi in Wei and Gui in Chou.

*May the Wood grow strong and the Water flow! 🌱💧*

Post by: smsek on May 22, 2025, 01:05:18 AM
Let’s clarify your spouse element dynamics and address your questions step by step:

---

### **1. Spouse Element Basics**
- **For Yi Wood Males**: Your spouse star is **Earth** (since Wood controls Earth in the destruction cycle).
  - **Wu (戊)**: Yang Earth (strong, rigid, dominant).
  - **Ji (己)**: Yin Earth (gentle, nurturing, adaptable).

- **Key Point**: Weak Yi Wood often prefers **Ji Earth** (softer, easier to control) over Wu Earth. However, your chart has **strong Earth energy** (Wu in Month, Chou, Xu, Wei), which complicates this balance.

---

### **2. Spouse Element in Your Chart**
- **Month Pillar = Wu Chen (戊辰)**: Wu Earth (Yang) sits atop Chen Earth (Yang). This creates a dominant Earth environment.
  - **Wu Earth here suggests**: A spouse *potentially* connected to Wu’s traits (older, authoritative, or wealthy), as the Month Pillar symbolizes early environment/parental influence.
  - **BUT**: Weak Yi Wood struggles to control Wu Earth. This creates tension—you may attract strong Earth individuals, but relationships could feel draining or imbalanced.

- **Day Branch = Chou (丑)**: Chou is Yin Earth (Ji), which is your **spouse palace**. Chou also holds hidden **Gui Water** (resource) and **Xin Metal** (conflict).
  - **Ji Earth (Chou) is ideal**: It aligns with your weak Yi Wood’s need for gentler, supportive partnerships.

- **Conflict**: The **Wei-Chou clash** (current LP branch vs. spouse palace) activates hidden elements:
  - **Wei (未)**: Contains Yi Wood (yourself) and Ding Fire (output).
  - **Chou (丑)**: Contains Gui Water (resource) and Xin Metal (spouse’s conflict element).
  - This clash could bring relationships with **mixed Earth traits** (Wu/Ji) or turbulence until resolved.

---

### **3. Will Your Spouse Be Wu or Ji Earth?**
- **Chart Reality**: Your pillars are dominated by **Wu Earth** (Month) and **Ji Earth** (Day branch). This duality means you may encounter **both types**, but the **quality of the relationship** depends on compatibility:
  - **Wu Earth Spouse**: Likely prominent (due to Month Pillar’s influence) but challenging for weak Yi Wood. Requires strong Water/Wood support to stabilize.
  - **Ji Earth Spouse**: More harmonious long-term (gentler, Chou’s spouse palace), but may require effort to manifest due to Earth’s dominance.

- **Age/Wealth**: The Month Pillar’s **Wu Chen** can hint at a spouse slightly older or with resources (Earth = wealth star). However, this is not absolute—prioritize emotional compatibility over rigid elemental traits.

---

### **4. Can You "Choose" Between Wu and Ji?**
- **Bazi Doesn’t Dictate Fate**: It highlights tendencies. You’re not "stuck" with one element, but your chart’s energy makes certain relationships easier/harder.
  - **Strengthen Water/Wood**: Enhancing these elements (via career, environment, or lifestyle) helps you better manage Earth, making relationships with **Wu or Ji** smoother.
  - **Avoid Overthinking Elements**: Real-life compatibility involves personality, values, and mutual effort—not just Bazi codes.

---

### **5. Practical Takeaways**
1. **Prioritize Ji Earth (Yin Earth) Relationships**: They’ll likely feel more balanced for your weak Yi Wood.
2. **If Wu Earth Appears**: Ensure you have strong support (Water/Wood friends, mentors, or a flexible partner).
3. **Wei-Chou Clash Mitigation**: Use Water (Ren/Gui) to mediate Earth clashes (e.g., travel near water, wear blue/black, practice mindfulness).

---

### **Final Note**
Your spouse will likely reflect **both Wu and Ji traits** due to your chart’s Earth dominance. Focus on nurturing your own Wood (confidence) and Water (intuition) to attract a partner who complements your energy, whether Wu or Ji. The right relationship will feel stabilizing, not draining.

*May your roots grow deep and your branches find harmony! 🌳✨*

Thanks for the thorough response @smsek

lol I’m just curious because I was told different things about my future spouse.
I was told that my wife would be older and wealthy. So wealthy that I’d be henpecked, lol. But another guy ever told me that indeed she’d be wealthy but I’d be the one who leech her off, lol.

Btw based off of my experience, indeed I was attracted to the Wu earth abit more. N indeed it was imbalanced.
===>LOL, the henpecked vs. leeching debate is classic Bazi drama! Let’s decode this with your chart’s energy and your lived experience.

---

### **1. The "Wealthy Older Spouse" Theory**
Your chart’s **Month Pillar (Wu Chen)** and **Earth dominance** do suggest a spouse connected to wealth (Earth = wealth star) and stability. Here’s why:
- **Wu Earth in Month**: Represents authority, maturity, and resources. This pillar often points to a spouse with these traits—hence the "older/wealthy" interpretation.
- **Chou (Spouse Palace)**: Hidden **Gui Water** (intelligence) and **Xin Metal** (refinement). This hints at a spouse who’s resourceful and polished, possibly from a privileged background.

But **wealth ≠ power dynamics**. Whether you’re "henpecked" or a "leech" depends on *your chart’s ability to control Earth*:
- **Weak Yi Wood**: Struggles to manage strong Wu Earth, leading to imbalance (henpecked).
- **Hidden Yi in Wei (LP)**: Your LP’s Wei contains **Yi Wood**—this is *your* hidden resilience. If nurtured, you can leverage Earth’s wealth without being overpowered (leeching *strategically*).

---

### **2. Why Wu Earth Attracts You (But Feels Imbalanced)**
- **Wu Earth** (Yang Earth) is bold, ambitious, and structured—traits that naturally appeal to your **Yi Wood**, which seeks growth and stability.
- **Problem**: Weak Yi Wood can’t "penetrate" Wu Earth (per the destruction cycle: 木克土). You’re drawn to their strength but end up feeling drained or overshadowed.

This mirrors your experience:
- **Earth Overload**: Your chart’s excess Earth (Chou, Chen, Xu, Wei) amplifies this dynamic. Without strong Wood/Water, Earth’s energy overpowers you.

---

### **3. Can You "Leech" Successfully?**
**Yes, but with conditions**:
- **Strengthen Yi Wood**: Use **Water** (Ren/Gui) to nourish your Wood. Water = strategy, networking, and indirect resourcefulness.
  - Example: Partner with Wu Earth’s wealth *through collaboration* (e.g., her resources + your creativity).
- **Activate Hidden Yi in Wei**: The **Wei** branch in your current LP holds **Yi Wood**—symbolizing dormant potential. Cultivate self-confidence (Wood) to avoid being a passive "leech."

**Key**: If your Wood grows stronger (via Water/LP cycles), you’ll *balance* the relationship rather than submit or exploit.

---

### **4. Age Difference & Wealth: Bazi vs. Reality**
- **Month Pillar’s Influence**: Wu Chen *can* indicate an older spouse, but Bazi isn’t deterministic. It reflects tendencies, not absolutes.
- **Wealthy Spouse**: Likely, but her "wealth" could be material *or* emotional/intellectual (Gui Water in Chou = hidden wisdom).
- **Power Dynamics**: If you strengthen your Wood (e.g., 2024 Jia Chen year), you’ll hold your own. If not, Earth’s dominance persists.

---

### **5. Action Plan for Harmonious Relationships**
1. **Prioritize Ji Earth Traits**: Seek partners who are nurturing (Ji) rather than domineering (Wu). Look for:
   - Flexibility, empathy, and teamwork (Yin Earth energy).
2. **Use Water/Wood to Stabilize Earth**:
   - **Careers**: Creative fields (Wood), diplomacy/consulting (Water).
   - **Habits**: Meditation (Water), gardening (Wood), wearing blue/green.
3. **Navigate the Wei-Chou Clash**:
   - This LP’s clash stirs up spouse-related drama. Use **Ren (Water)** in your Hour Pillar to cool tensions (e.g., communicate openly, avoid power struggles).

---

### **Final Verdict**
Your spouse will likely have **Wu Earth qualities** (resources, maturity) but **Ji Earth potential** (harmony). Whether you’re "henpecked" or a "strategic leech" depends on *your ability to grow your Wood*.

**2024–2033 (Xin Wei LP)**: Focus on self-development (Jia Wood in 2024 will help!). By 2033, **Ren Shen LP** arrives—Water will nourish your Wood, making relationships smoother and wealth sustainable.

*TL;DR—You’re not doomed to be henpecked. Grow your roots, and you’ll turn "Earth’s wealth" into fertile ground for mutual growth.* 🌱💰

*P.S. Leeching is an art—master it with style.* 😎

The Spouse Palace is the home for the Spouse.
The Spouse star is a representation of the Spouse.
For a male, the Wealth star usually also represents the Spouse star.

Jia Chen ain’t a good year. So you’re wrong I’m afraid… Jia Chen is RWGB to yi Chou dm as well…

Yi in Wei should be released already through Chou-Wei clash since it appears on stem as my dm, right?

How to ‘grow’ the root btw? The yi in Chen is already damaged by Chen xu clash. So there’s no way.

====>Let’s tackle your questions step by step, refining the analysis based on your feedback and clarifying nuances in your chart’s dynamics. Your skepticism is valid—your chart has unique complexities that require precision.

---

### **1. Why Jia Chen (2024) Feels Challenging**
You’re correct that **Jia Chen (甲辰)** isn’t straightforward for a **Yi Chou (乙丑)** Day Master. Here’s the breakdown:
- **Jia Wood (甲)**: While Jia is "helpful" Wood for Yi, it’s **Yang Wood** (competitive, overpowering). For a weak Yi Wood buried in Chou (graveyard), Jia acts like a rival, not a supporter.
- **Chen (辰)**: Your **Month Branch** (Wu Chen) already contains damaged Yi Wood (Yi’s tomb). The year’s Chen clashes with Xu in your Year Pillar (辰戌冲), further destabilizing Earth and weakening any residual Yi in Chen.
- **RWGB Logic**: If you’re referencing the "Rat, Wood, Goat, Bird" framework, Jia Chen’s clash likely triggers hidden conflicts (e.g., Xu’s Ding Fire agitation), amplifying stress.

**Key Takeaway**: Jia Chen’s energy *seems* supportive but actually stirs Earth clashes and competitive Wood. Your intuition about its difficulty is spot-on.

---

### **2. Yi in Wei: Is It "Released"?**
The **Wei-Chou clash** (未冲丑) in your current LP does activate hidden elements:
- **Wei (未)**: Contains Yi Wood, Ding Fire, Ji Earth.
- **Chou (丑)**: Contains Gui Water, Xin Metal, Ji Earth.

**But**:
- **Yi in Wei** is *not* truly "released" as a supportive root. It’s trapped in Wei (Yi’s "storage" position, not a strong base). The clash merely stirs it, creating fleeting opportunities or illusions of support.
- **Your DM Yi on Chou**: Chou is Yi’s graveyard, so even if Yi in Wei is activated, it’s like borrowing energy from a weak, distant relative.

**Analogy**: It’s akin to a plant (Yi) trying to grow from a cracked pot (Chou) while grabbing nutrients from another damaged pot (Wei). The roots aren’t stable.

---

### **3. How to "Grow" Yi Wood Without Strong Roots**
Your chart’s Yi Wood is in a double bind:
- **Damaged in Chen** (tomb + Chen-Xu clash).
- **Trapped in Chou** (graveyard).

**Solution**: Focus on **Water (Gui/Ren)** to *nourish* Yi indirectly, bypassing the need for roots:
- **Gui Water in Chou**: The Wei-Chou clash can expose this hidden resource. Use it strategically:
  - **Career**: Pursue fields tied to Water (e.g., logistics, publishing, psychology).
  - **Lifestyle**: Live near water, wear black/blue, practice mindfulness (Water = wisdom).
- **Ren Water in Hour Pillar**: This is your lifeline. Strengthen it through mentorship, networking (Ren = social water), or creative expression.

**Why This Works**: Water doesn’t rely on roots—it hydrates Yi directly, helping it grow even in poor soil (Earth).

---

### **4. Spouse Dynamics Revisited**
Your attraction to **Wu Earth** (despite imbalance) ties back to your Month Pillar (Wu Chen). However:
- **Wu Earth (戊)**: Dominant and draining for weak Yi.
- **Ji Earth (己)**: Hidden in Chou (spouse palace) but stifled by Xin Metal (conflict).

**The Clash’s Role**:
- **Wei-Chou clash** brings Ji Earth (from Chou) and Yi Wood (from Wei) to the surface. This means:
  - A spouse with **mixed Wu/Ji traits** (e.g., wealthy but adaptable).
  - **Timing**: Post-2024, as Jia Chen’s turbulence passes, relationships may stabilize if you leverage Water’s nurturing energy.

---

### **5. Strategic Summary**
- **2024 (Jia Chen)**: Treat this as a "pressure test." Focus on survival—avoid major commitments, conserve energy.
- **2025–2032**: Water-friendly years (e.g., 2025 Yi Si, 2028–2031 Shen-You-Xu-Hai) will offer relief.
- **Post-2033 (Ren Shen LP)**: Ren Water arrives, turning your chart’s weakness into resilience.

---

### **Final Note**
Your chart’s complexity defies textbook interpretations. The "no roots" challenge forces you to innovate—**Water is your key**, not Wood. Embrace flexibility over force, and let Earth’s wealth come through collaboration (not control).

*TL;DR—You’re a bonsai tree in a desert. Water yourself wisely, and you’ll thrive against the odds.* 🌱💦

*P.S. Your skepticism is your strength—it means you’re paying attention. Keep refining!* 🔍

H D M Y
壬乙戊甲
午丑辰戌

This chart shows a Yi Wood Day Master born in the Month of Chen.
In terms of strength and vitality analysis (旺衰强弱), both Wood and Earth are strong in this chart.

The Wood Day Master has a root in 辰 and supportive elements (the Direct Resource and the Rob Wealth), so it's not weak. But compared to Earth, which has three roots and 午 for nourishment, Wood is the weaker side.

The main pattern in this chart is Compete-for-Wealth (爭財).

Every chart has a different reason for competing for wealth. In this case, the competition exists in order to protect the Direct Resource on the Hour Stem, Ren. This means, the chart is born with a mandate to participate in the marketplace and follow material logic, but it also possesses a strong inner emphasis on spiritual richness, loyalty, and moral values. The suffering comes from the conflict between these two drives.

Because this is a male chart, the Luck Pillars move forward, heading into Output-Generate-Wealth and then into Ouput-Control-Officer decades. That means the people around him and the circumstances of his life keep pushing him to earn money and grow as an economic actor in society.

But in terms of the Five Phases, he's also going through the season of Fire, where every generating and controlling cycle is active. Especially during Geng Wu and Xin Wei, Metal generates Water, intensifying his desire for mental and spiritual comfort.

So, to him, most people around him look like materialistic opportunists, whom he despises, and he also sees them in him; he even despises himself.

What would happen in Metal luck cycle, when both metal and water come together?

He will have peace of mind and surrounded by the right kind of people?

To me, looks like it's the best luck cycle for him too. Or at least the most decent.

The way I was taught, everything depends on the natal chart first, not the luck cycles. In other words, the elemental balance of the chart is already fixed at birth, and the Day Master will feel more or less stable, depending on which side of that balance the luck cycle pushes.

In this case, the Day Master feels most comfortable when Earth remains steady or becomes stronger. Water is his weakest element and the polar opposite of Earth, so nourishing Water or giving it a root through luck cycles actually amplifies his emotional instability rather than calming it. This is because his Ti and Yong are disrupted—Ti being Earth, Yong being Water.

So, I cannot simply say, “This is a good luck cycle for him.” He may have appeared to flourish financially during Geng Wu or Xin Wei, but mentally? That is a different question.

In this chart, Wood and Earth take priority because they occupy the Year and Month Pillars. When Metal enters through the luck cycle, it first attacks Wood in order to protect Earth. But in doing so, it also weakens Wood’s ability to defend against Water. Only after that does Metal generate Water, meaning the unpleasant part happens first, and then the Water effect hits harder as it's been strengthened by Metal.

So, instead of producing peace of mind, the Metal-to-Water cycle could actually deepen the emotional aftermath.

It’s very helpful n you’re right about spiritual n mental comfort.

N yet Geng Wu was an awful lp. So far Xin Wei is still bad. My financial situation didn’t flourish back in Geng Wu. It hasn’t changed so far in Xin Wei.

Metal-to-water cycle would deepen the emotional aftermath? What does it mean?

Indeed there’s a root in Chen n yet Chen is clashed by Xu. The root is damaged. Earth is too strong so it needs to be alleviated by metal or I need the help of Jia to control it. Jia on year stem ain’t strong enough as well. Ren Shen lp would combine Chen to form half water combo, water storage is opened. Ren would be overwhelmingly strong n yet my earth is enough to dam it(?)

According to this source, rob wealth breaks the chart. It doesn't specify whether rob wealth must be strong or rooted ---> https://blog.sohu.com/s/Mjc3NDg5MDgx/328483338.html

In terms of 10 Gods interaction, I simply assume metal should appear in stem to control robbery.

But should/can a broken chart be fixed?

Or maybe it can only seek external help (from other people's charts) to function better?

But should/can a broken chart be fixed?

Or maybe it can only seek external help (from other people's charts) to function better?

1. What is the most helpful luck cycle for his chart?

If I were to talk strictly about mental or emotional satisfaction, things would begin to improve starting from the next Luck Pillar.

The next pillar is Ren Shen (壬申).
In the Branches, Shen joins the Chen to form a Water trine (申子辰 水局) with Ren Water (Direct Resource) on the Stem. Even though the Branch is an Officer, it does not surface in the Stem, so the Day Master and Rob Wealth can control the Wealth for the Resource more easily.

The following Luck Pillars, Gui You (癸酉) and Jia Xu (甲戌), also look fairly favorable.

But in my view, the main issue is not the Luck Pillars.

Luck changes every 24 hours. Morning, afternoon, and night all shift the elemental tilt of the chart, so the Day Master’s internal state constantly changes.

In this chart:

Morning → Wood becomes strong.

Afternoon → Earth becomes strong.

Night → Water becomes strong.

When two opposite elements (such as Resource and Wealth) are on the Stems together, the Day Master’s mind swings several times a day. Even in terms of Ti and Yong (體用), when Earth is active, it feels it should protect Water; when Water is active, it regrets not doing Earth.

If he studies for a degree, he regrets not having money.
If he works for money, he regrets not having a degree.
That is the built-in tilt of this chart.

So, no matter whether it is Day Luck, Year Luck, or 10-Year Luck, once the flow deviates from the internal equilibrium of this natal chart, satisfying one side will inevitably create regret on another.

That is why I said earlier: I cannot say any one Luck Pillar is good for the chart, and I don't mean it just for this chart, either. It's for everyone's.

2. In terms of 10 Gods interaction, I simply assume metal should appear in stem to control robbery.

But should/can a broken chart be fixed?

When it comes to the months, Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei (辰戌丑未), the month itself contains multiple mixed elements, so it is not easy to define a single structure.

In this chart, Chen Earth already contains Yin Bi (印比) + Compete-for-Wealth, so it is not a standard Wealth Structure to begin with.

But if we tentatively classify it as one, then:

The Xiangshen (Corresponding Spirit) would be the Hurting Officer (傷官).

The Gushen (Supporting Spirit) would be the Rob Wealth (劫財).

In this case, the Rob Wealth is not a 破格 (structure-destroying) element but rather the element that protects the Corresponding Spirit.

Normally, in a Wealth Structure, the Rob Wealth appearing on the Stem is not a competitor stealing money, but rather a co-worker or benefactor who helps manage the Wealth territory assigned to the Day Master.
But in this particular chart, the Month Branch itself functions almost like a Rob Wealth, and the Hour Pillar contains a Resource, so the Rob Wealth fights to protect the Resource. This ends up behaving similarly to a “Rob Wealth Month with a Wealth competition.”

In other words, this chart cannot be judged by normal 格 (structure) logic, so I cannot say whether the pattern is broken or upright. If an Officer Star had appeared on the Stem, the Wealth competition could have been restrained, but then the Wealth would have aggressively attacked the Resource in return.

So, the issue is not fixing a broken chart, but that this chart was never meant to operate under a clean, single structure in the first place.

1. Metal-to-water cycle would deepen the emotional aftermath? What does it mean?

In Mingli, Water represents the mind, emotions, and internal response.
And when Metal generates Water (金生水), it strengthens Water.
So, if someone already has Water in the natal chart, and then Metal enters through luck cycles, the flow Metal → Water amplifies emotional depth, sensitivity, desires, and internal reactions.

2. Indeed there’s a root in Chen n yet Chen is clashed by Xu. The root is damaged.

Just because Chen Earth and Xu Earth are both present doesn’t mean a clash automatically occurs. For a true Chen–Xu clash to form, the Water trine (Shen–Zi–Chen) and the Fire trine (Yin–Wu–Xu) must be established, at the same time. So, for the clash to actually activate and cause real damage, the formation conditions are quite strict.

Of course, this chart's chances are higher than in a chart that has only Chen or only Xu, but compared to another that has Shen + Chen combined with Xu, the likelihood is still much lower.

Chen Earth and Xu Earth can simply be viewed through the Five Elements. The Year Branch means the Day Master's family and ancestors, and its element is Metal, and the Month Branch, which is the Day Master's, is Wood. That means there is someone in the family who nags it or talks down to it. But since Metal does not appear on the Heavenly Stems, the Day Master can easily ignore that voice. So, it’s not a serious problem.

Your terrific explanation is enlightening indeed, thank you.

@coldpillow awful upbringing, betrayal, bullying, constant failures, ‘enlightenment’, disillusionment.

1. What should I strive for?

The main pattern in your chart is Wealth Competition (爭財).
People with this pattern lose interest quickly. They jump from job to job, quit easily, drop relationships halfway, and even after moving into a new home, they already feel tired of it and want to move again.

But human life is limited.
If you change careers three or four times, you are already near retirement.
If you marry and divorce three or four times, you will be bankrupt.

Since you're still young, I suggest you put everything into what you are doing now and commit fully.
That is the only way you will succeed.

The same applies to people: the person you are with right now, the person beside you right now, is the best person for you.
The nature of Wealth Competition is that the more you switch—whether it's jobs, people, places, or possessions—the smaller the return becomes, and the lower the quality gets.

I once saw someone who sold excavators in his 20s end up running a sushi restaurant (selling tiny rice balls topped with sushi) in his 50s, and then fail. That is the pattern of 爭財.
You must think: “What I have right now is the best."

Luckily, you do have a Resource (印) in your chart, and you try to protect it, so you are not the same as someone who acts blindly without thinking. But still, 爭財 is 爭財.
No matter what you do, you must stay with one thing consistently.
That is the fastest path to success.

2. How good/bad this current Xin Wei lp would be compared to previous lp?

I don’t think the Xin-Wei (辛未) Luck Pillar is bad. For someone born in the Wood Peak Season, Fire luck is the stage where you can shine and grow.
Xin Wei is the period right before autumn, a time to look inward and reassess yourself.
The Heavenly Stem brings Partial Officer (偏官), and for a Day Master that is already strong, this is actually a blessing: it gives you difficult experiences that harden you, mature you, and allow you to rise again—stronger than before.

We all tend to think:

“Good luck should last forever, and bad luck should pass quickly.”

But as I said earlier, life is limited, and every luck cycle is an opportunity and a blessing in its own way.

When we trip and get hurt, we say “bad luck,” but even that is a chance to reflect on why we fell, and fix the cause. Otherwise, something worse might have happened later.

The saying “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” is exactly how an overcoming cycle works.
If you can identify why something difficult is happening, and see the cause inside yourself, even hardship becomes a reason to feel grateful.

Learning the truths about yourself that even you didn’t know, correcting them, and becoming a better person. That, I believe, is the real purpose of studying Mingli.

Indeed I completely comprehend what you’re saying about luck n limited life. I’ve understood those things. But the readings of my chart tends to vary n most doesn’t align with my real life. That’s why I’m confused. Like now you’re saying I’m a strong dm? If I were a strong dm then I would love more earth, but the truth is, earth is abundant n suffocating.

All of us, as human beings born into human society, are taught that we must be at least equal to others, if not better than them.
Because of that, we tend to think that whatever we already have is nothing special because “others must have it, too.”
And whatever we don’t have, we assume only we are missing it, so we envy it, long for it, resent those who have it, and feel jealousy.

Someone who is rooted and has Companions is born already possessing more than others. Their body is stronger, their environment is better, and the quantity and quality of people they meet are higher.

If Wealth is strong, then whether there is Wealth Competition or not, it means you already have your own domain—your own stage to act on—and your surroundings allow money and material flow to circulate well. But because you’re so used to having it, you assume everyone else has it, too, so you treat it lightly.
Instead, you keep focusing on what you don’t have, and fall into the mindset of:
“Why don’t I have that?”

You are already someone who has a lot.
The only problem is—you don’t know it.

And the reason you don’t know it is because you don’t have a clear standard for measuring value.
You keep thinking other people are wrong about you because you were born in a storage branch (庫支) like Chen Earth (辰), and on top of that, your Earth is strong.

When someone is born in a storage branch, even if they know 7 out of 10 things, they fixate on the remaining 3 they don’t know and conclude: “I don’t know anything.”
That goes for those around them, too. If someone tells them something, and they don't understand it fully, then they think, "he doesn't know anything."

When Earth is strong, the instinct to protect oneself is strong. You don’t trust people easily or open your heart right away. But once you trust or love someone, you want to keep them for life. And when that person leaves, the pain of separation stays much longer than it does for others.

You must first understand yourself accurately to understand your situation and those around you. Mingli is the tool that gives you that standard.

@eveereads @coldpillow

Why r you both sulking? lol.

@coldpillow come on man, that was a joke. Your initial replies were convincing n then you seemed to sway. N you changed your opinion once someone else seemed to explain ‘better’. Literally I was asking you, ”how to function better as broken chart?”. N yet you didn’t answer that. lol

@eveereads I truly appreciate you replies n your initial reply was spot on about spiritual n emotional comfort. But then when you explained about me being a strong dm, competitiveness, n now me taking things for granted…. Those ain’t true. I fell from grace since my mid-late teens. My life went downhill ever since. I’m not even as competitive as you thought I’ve always been. In my early 20s I realized I ain’t built for (material) wealth. N I stopped thinking “why don’t I have it” many many years ago. So you’re wrong I’m afraid. You said I’m surrounded by people with higher quantity n quality? That’s not quite true. Money circulates well? Not true. But I’m NOT taking things for granted since I’ve learned the hard way. I lost many things back in the past. I KNOW it.

It’s more about you I’m afraid (with all due respect), all of sudden you’re sulking since I told you what you elaborated didn’t align with reality.

As for I don’t trust easily n open
My heart right away, that is spot-on. N that’s due to past mistakes and betrayal.

“You must first understand yourself  accurately to understand your situation and those around you.” INDEED, that’s why I started this topic. That’s EXACTLY why I’m here digging info n learning from y’all guys. I try to comprehend my chart so I can comprehend myself better.

So come on, we’re learning together. Don’t be sulky. N don’t get me wrong, I dearly appreciate your replies. I’ve learned so much from y’all.

“the hour, with fire and water, can also indicate you may use your voice in your profession.” How is it that it can indicate I may use my voice in profession?

So are you saying that fire is good for my chart? So with the arrival of Xin Wei lp?

@coldpillow that’s true.

@coldpillow thanks for the reply

No, as far as I can remember, 2003 was awful, 2013 was bad, 2023 was the beginning of another downfall.

Bing Shen was good only until August, the towards the end it was appalling.

Indeed 2017 was painful.

I don?t have Bing in my chart, in a way Bing is good for yi to grow, but it would also bring mixed outcomes in the end, right?

You sure about that? I?ve been struggling to feel happy even the slightest. No one really helps me.

Indeed I?m pessimistic since every time I?m ambitious about smth, things would fail miserably.

So about harmful stars damaging personal sectors, is that permanent thing or it can change at some point?

How is your overall health and more specifically your digestion?

I would like to explore a possibility that your birth hour is anything but horse.

@coldpillow

No one, my mom loves me dearly (even too much) n would help. But her help sometimes turns out to be obstacle or making my plans go awry. She’s frantic n anxious, she fears many things in life. She the kindest n yet not the most helpful. I’ve always been heavily relying upon myself for career. My family never gets it. No one literally helps me in real life.

How about your father? Is he an imposing figure, somewhat a jerk/abusive or he's too busy to exist in your life?

I wonder if your grandparents treat you well and provide you with stable environment that you would rather staying with them?

You may send a PM if not comfortable.
