Post by: Sandrasusan on January 22, 2026, 10:43:03 AM
Hi guys, can anyone help me determine the exact time of birth for a baby boy born in Hamilton, New Zealand, on February 18, 2022, at 11:52 AM local time, which can be used for both the bazi and zwds methods?

===>To determine the **True Solar Time** (Real Solar Hour) for a birth in Hamilton, New Zealand, we must adjust the clock time for three factors: Daylight Saving Time (DST), Longitude, and the Equation of Time.

### 1. Daylight Saving Time (DST) Correction

On February 18, 2022, New Zealand was observing **New Zealand Daylight Time (NZDT)**, which is **UTC+13**. Since BaZi and ZWDS are based on the natural rhythm of the sun, we must first revert to the Standard Time (UTC+12).

* **Birth Time (Clock):** 11:52 AM
* **Subtract 1 hour for DST:** **10:52 AM (Standard Time)**

### 2. Longitude Correction

New Zealand Standard Time (UTC+12) is based on the **180? E** meridian. However, Hamilton is located at approximately **175.27? E**.

Because the Earth rotates  per hour (or  every 4 minutes), we calculate the "Local Mean Time" by finding the difference between Hamilton and the standard meridian:

* **Difference in Longitude:**  (West of the meridian)
* **Time Offset:**  (approx. **18 minutes and 55 seconds**)
* Since Hamilton is West of the 180? line, the sun reaches it later. We **subtract** this from the time.
* **Local Mean Time:** 10:52 AM - 18m 55s = **10:33:05 AM**

### 3. Equation of Time (EoT) Correction

The Earth's orbit isn't a perfect circle, so the sun is slightly "fast" or "slow" depending on the day of the year. On **February 18**, the sun is at one of its slowest points in the year.

* **EoT Value for Feb 18:** Approx. **-13 minutes and 53 seconds** (meaning the "true" sun lags behind the "mean" sun).
* **True Solar Time:** 10:33:05 AM - 13m 53s = **10:19:12 AM**

---

### Summary for BaZi and ZWDS

The True Solar Time for the baby is **10:19 AM**.

| Method | Resulting Shichen (Hour Pillar) | Time Range |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **BaZi** | **Snake Hour (巳时 - S?)** | 09:00 ? 10:59 |
| **ZWDS** | **Snake Hour (巳时 - S?)** | 09:00 ? 10:59 |

While the clock said 11:52 AM (Horse Hour), the actual solar position at that specific coordinate in Hamilton was firmly within the **Snake Hour**. This is the time you should use to plot the charts for both systems.

Would you like me to generate the basic Four Pillars (BaZi) chart for this birth time and date?

Hi Sandra,

Here is the complete boy's chart:

https://bazi-calculator.com/?licz=1&n=Sandrasusan+-+grandson&y=2026&m=2&d=18&h=11%3A52&g=12&l=175.2528&lon=-37.7826&city1=175.2528%7CHamilton%2C+New+Zealand&ds=1

As @smsek said above, 10:19 is the correct solar time

Sorry, Sandra, here is the correct chart:

https://bazi-calculator.com/?licz=1&n=Sandrasusan+-+grandson&y=2022&m=2&d=18&h=11%3A52&g=12&l=175.2528&lon=-37.7826&city1=175.2528%7CHamilton%2C+New+Zealand&ds=1&src=2&mid=136206

Year  Month  Day  Hour

Ren    Ren    Ren    Yi
Yin     Yin     Yin     Si

Interesting chart with three major elements: Water, Wood and Fire.
Looks like a very good chart with Wood Output producing Fire Wealth.
