How did you get this tetragram?
There are many kinds in Tai Xuan Jing too, coins, stems etc ...
The TIME also counts when choosing the initial, middle,
and finishing Appraisal…

For Tai Xuan Jing divination I use Yarrow sticks .. And the method as proposed Derek Walter.
I don't use the TIME (of the day) to chose Appraisals .. Just casting by Yarrows .. !!

Hi Tientai, my take on the Chinese text of Tai Xuan Jing.
渾沌無端
murky & turbid, infinite in scope
"Turbid" suggests the image of contamination, like contaminated water. This contaminated water represents the contagious nature of the disease. "Infinite in scope" refers to the wide area that it has spread, first within the city of Wuhan, and then to the whole country (China), next the neighboring countries, also through traveling of humans across the world.

And let's look at the hexagram itself:
No. 77 馴 consists of 馬 "horse" and 川 "river". Both of them refer to fast and flowing movement, again suggesting the fast spread of the disease.
About horse, I don't know if it's related to horse meat eating? I cannot find it from my Internet googling. But there are references to bats.
The bat in a Chinese dialect is also called "flying rat". An older English name for bats is "flittermouse". The Dutch word also contains the word for "mouse". Coronavirus broke out at the end of Hai (Pig) year, before the change to Rat year!

What you said above is consistent with date of Tai Xuan Jing calendar on Tetragram 77 (29 November -- 3 December 2019 ).. !!!

Stalks distribution . total of 36, then I look at the 9 apprisal and it depends on what time of day the question was made. If this is not taken into consideration, the reading will be very different ... ;D

I use 64 stalks for Tai xuan jing divination ..
Is a method proposed by Derek Walters ..
I start from upper part line and continue with next line being down the first ..and continue to build the lines six times .. right up the bottom ... !!
I use only one appraisal. . Not three ..

But I support only one Appraisal ... so is difficult to focus on all three at the same time ( 2 - 6 -9 )
I believe the most significant is just one Appraisal ..!!

Tai Xuan Jing has close connection with 9 Star Qi .. and 9 star Qi is close connected with many aspects of Chinese metaphysics and particularly with Feng shui ...
The concept of time of making a divination par example focusing on the morning or evening or in the middle of the day when making TXT divination .. this can determine two things:
1. The position of the number of appraisal on the daily 9 star Qi .. or vice versa ..
2. the appraisal that can give a "textual image" of the event ..
Yang Hsiung doesn't give any explanation on how to combine 9 star Qi. . (perhaps it was his secret !!)
Only later generations support this idea ..
That's the reason I use this method of TXT divination .. with 64 stalks .. reaching up to one Appraisal ..!!

Very interesting @Tientai the divination with tetragrams. I am also interested in TXT, although I am afraid of finding abstract and ambiguous philosophical texts with a Daoist tinge that move away from the question, as classical I Ching usually does. How would you evaluate the difference from Liu Yao?
