What happens is a Month Break, where Month Wei clashes Self Chou. Wei represents the government because it comes at the Month Branch. So Self is "punished" by the government.
But Self as Earth is very well supported by Month Earth and Day Earth. Again, it's not really a punishment or trouble because Self line is strong. Self just does not like the idea of this mandate.
In the next 3 months means: Wei, Shen and You months. When is Self at its weakest in the next 3 months? In Wei Month, due to Month Break. Self being weakest means self (Sacrar, actually) has to "give in" to the mandate. Who does Self give in to? The government --> Wei Officer.
Hi JLim, I was intrigued by what you said and what I marked in bold and red. You seem to see the Month as something with an entity of its own. I understand that the date (Year, Month,Day, Hour) is only an external energetic influence that acts on the lines, ying/yang lines to which earthly branches and one of the five relatives ones are associated.
How do you get the idea that the Month of Wei is Official/Government? If it had been the day of Wei instead of the Wei month that clashed over the line of Chou, would you see the Wei Day as the government as well?
I would understand it if there was an active Official Wei line in the hexagram that is also strong for the Month of Wei, and identifies with the month (Lin), acting on the Self Chou line. But the fact is that there is no line Official Wei in the hexagram.
Maybe I'm missing some concept that I don't know about in Liu Yao...
