As far as I understand you are talking all in your char but you are moving the focus to the representation of Spouse(so we arrange the 10 gods from the point of view of Xin now).
But in that case expression of your Spouse is your Officer. As people that will be the kids in a relationship more often then not.
Other then that the gods and their relations are based on polarity.
Yang Officer combines with Yin DM in stems. All other polarities will not.
Yang DM combines with Yin Wealth in stems. All other polarities will not.
Controlling element has to be active, while controlled element has to be receiving to have combination. Why...
Imagine 2 flows of water, from a hose for example.
If you have 1 flow that is going into a swimming pool all is good(Yang Officer - Water, Yin DM - Swimming Pool).
If you have 2 flows across each other you have Yang Officer and Yang DM, it can't really work as nothing is receiving the flow.
If you have 2 empty swimming pool - same problem, it won't really work as there is no flow and that is Yin Officer Yin DM.
And if you have a receiving empty hose and a very active swimming pool, that will just probably bring a lot of problems all around the place, as Yin Officer and Yang DM.
So Yang Officer - Yin DM(or Yang DM - Yin Asset) - only way the flow can happen. And that is why we usually will look for the persons Wife there if they are male. Its just the more optimal relation. It doesn't have to be like that, they can get married with many other relations, it just means the relationship will have problems(in the way described above).
Considering that every chart will be different, Direct Wealth may be spouse, or may not be. May not exist in the chart at all, and the person may still be happily married(too many examples for that to post, should be easy to find if you look around).
In that way the idea changes... We can't use the gods to be sure of something, we can use them as possible indications of something. Then we combine with how we view the chart to relate to the world around and see what will that represent there.
Rules like HO attacking Officer - bad for relationship in female chart,its just stepping stones, in real charts we need to go deeper then that. Only my view, obviously. : )
