Kong Wang
« on: February 01, 2025, 04:24:44 AM »
Hello,

1. Can I ask what happens if a person has Kong Wang (DE) in their year pillar?
2. Coincidentally, the person's 10 years luck cycle has Kong Wang (DE), does this cancel out each other?
3. What if there is a fu-yin. Eg. Year pillar is Wu Chen (DE) and the Ten year Luck cycle is also Wu Chen (DE)?
4. What happens if the elements are not favourable or favourable?

I can answer these questions. Let's go through them one by one:

### 1. What happens if a person has Kong Wang (空亡, DE - Death & Emptiness) in their Year Pillar?
   - **Kong Wang (DE) in the Year Pillar** can indicate:
     - Weak connection with ancestors or family roots.
     - Potential issues with early childhood upbringing or lack of strong parental support.
     - Difficulty in obtaining inheritance or blessings from elders.
     - A sense of disconnection from one's cultural or family traditions.
     - If the person moves away from their birthplace or family, they may find better opportunities.

   - If the **Year Pillar represents external environment** (e.g., country, society, grandparents, extended family), Kong Wang can indicate instability or disconnection from these areas.

---

### 2. If the person's 10-Year Luck Cycle (大运) also has Kong Wang (DE), does this cancel out each other?
   - **Two Kong Wang (空亡) interacting**: There are two common interpretations:
     1. **They cancel each other out** – Some believe that when Kong Wang appears in both the natal chart and the 10-Year Luck Pillar, its effect is neutralized, meaning that the emptiness is "filled" and the person regains some stability in that area.
     2. **The emptiness is reinforced** – Others argue that if Kong Wang appears twice, it can strengthen the theme of loss, detachment, or lack of support in that area, making it more difficult for the person to gain resources, relationships, or stability in the affected pillar.

   - **Whether it cancels out or not depends on the overall Bazi chart and the specific elements involved.** If the person’s favorable elements appear in the Luck Pillar, they might still benefit despite the Kong Wang.

---

### 3. What if there is a Fu-Yin (伏吟)? Example: Year Pillar is Wu Chen (戊辰, DE) and the 10-Year Luck Cycle is also Wu Chen (戊辰, DE)?
   - **Fu-Yin (伏吟) means repetition** of the same pillar, which often signifies:
     - Emotional distress or inner struggles, especially if unfavorable elements are involved.
     - A sense of stagnation, where a person may feel stuck in a cycle of repeated experiences.
     - If the original pillar contains Kong Wang (空亡), it could amplify the feeling of emptiness, instability, or lack of support.
     - If the repeated pillar contains a **favorable element**, it can strengthen that aspect of life.

   - **Effects depend on the person's chart:**
     - If Wu Chen (戊辰) is a **favorable pillar**, this can be a positive reinforcement of stability.
     - If it is **unfavorable**, it can indicate repeated struggles, health issues, or emotional burdens.

   - **In severe cases**, Fu-Yin is associated with sorrowful events (such as illness, separation, or career stagnation), but this is only true if the overall Bazi structure confirms it.

---

### 4. What happens if the elements are not favorable or favorable?
   - **If the Kong Wang (DE) pillar contains favorable elements**:
     - The person may not fully enjoy the benefits of those elements, or they might feel that success is always slightly out of reach.
     - They may need to work harder to activate their favorable elements, such as relocating, making drastic life changes, or relying on external help.

   - **If the Kong Wang (DE) pillar contains unfavorable elements**:
     - This can actually reduce the negative impact of those elements.
     - The challenges or obstacles associated with those elements might feel "empty" or less intense.
     - However, if the person depends on these elements for balance, they may feel a lack of direction.

   - **Luck Pillars Interaction**:
     - If a **new Luck Pillar brings the missing favorable element**, it can help overcome the Kong Wang's limiting effects.
     - If a **new Luck Pillar reinforces an unfavorable element**, the person may struggle with the same issues repeatedly.

---

### **Summary**
- **Kong Wang in the Year Pillar** → Possible weak family ties, detachment from roots, or difficulty receiving ancestral blessings.
- **Kong Wang in both Natal and Luck Pillar** → Can either neutralize or reinforce the effect, depending on the chart.
- **Fu-Yin with Kong Wang** → Often intensifies emotional burdens or stagnation, unless the element is favorable.
- **If elements are favorable** → Harder to access benefits but not completely blocked.
- **If elements are unfavorable** → Potentially weakens their negative impact, but may still cause instability.

1. How about kong wang in shen sha like in Direct Officer and Hurting officer? Will this affects jobs and relationships?

2. I am confused. In the bazi chart, DE appears in the earthly branch, but does it affects the heavenly branch and all the hidden stems in a luck pillar?

3. Wu Chen (DE) Year pillar interacts with Wu Chen (DE) ten year luck cycle. this is a fu yin but will the double DE neutralise the fu yin or enhance the fu yin?

4. This is not about kong Wong. What if the time pillar of someone contains all the unfavourable elements? Does it indicates a bad old age?

These are great and deep questions! Let me go through them one by one in detail:

---

### **1. How about Kong Wang (空亡, DE) in Shen Sha (神煞) like Direct Officer (正官) and Hurting Officer (伤官)? Will this affect jobs and relationships?**
   - **Kong Wang in Direct Officer (正官, DO)**:
     - Direct Officer represents **authority, career, discipline, and relationships (for females, spouse star)**.
     - If DO falls into Kong Wang, it can mean:
       - Career progress is unstable, authority figures (bosses, managers) may not support or recognize the person.
       - Job opportunities may seem promising but vanish or be hard to secure.
       - If in relationships, a female may struggle to find a stable partner or experience delays and difficulties in marriage.

   - **Kong Wang in Hurting Officer (伤官, HO)**:
     - Hurting Officer represents **creativity, expression, rebelliousness, and career independence**.
     - If HO falls into Kong Wang:
       - The person may have **difficulty expressing themselves** properly.
       - Their creative talents may feel wasted, underappreciated, or not recognized.
       - If they are rebellious against authority (a common HO trait), their resistance might be ineffective.
       - If HO is related to relationships, the person may have **trouble expressing emotions**, leading to misunderstandings.

   - **Overall Career & Relationship Impact**:
     - If a person's career depends on DO (such as a stable, structured job), DE can make their career feel unstable or unreliable.
     - If a person is more inclined towards HO-type careers (creative, independent work), DE might reduce their confidence or make them hesitant to take risks.
     - In relationships, DO (spouse star) with DE means weak or unreliable support from a partner, while HO with DE can mean difficulty in attracting or keeping partners.

---

### **2. DE appears in the Earthly Branch, but does it affect the Heavenly Stem and all the hidden stems in a Luck Pillar?**
   - **Primary Effect**:
     - DE (Kong Wang) **primarily affects the Earthly Branch** where it is located.
     - If an Earthly Branch is **empty**, it means that the **Qi (energy) within that branch is weak** or hard to utilize.

   - **Does it affect the Heavenly Stem?**
     - Generally, DE does **not directly weaken the Heavenly Stem** unless:
       - The Heavenly Stem is rooted in the affected Earthly Branch.
       - Example: If a **Geng (庚 Metal) Heavenly Stem** is present, and its root **(Shen 申 Metal) falls into DE**, the strength of the Heavenly Stem is reduced.

   - **What about Hidden Stems?**
     - If DE exists in a **Luck Pillar's Earthly Branch**, then the hidden elements inside that branch may also be **temporarily weakened**.
     - Example:
       - If the **Luck Pillar is Xu (戌, DE)** and a person needs **Wu Earth (戊) from Xu**, then the Wu Earth may not be strong enough to help them.

   - **Summary**:
     - DE affects the Earthly Branch directly.
     - It weakens the hidden stems inside the branch.
     - It indirectly affects the Heavenly Stem if that stem is relying on the branch for support.

---

### **3. Wu Chen (戊辰, DE) Year Pillar interacts with Wu Chen (戊辰, DE) Ten-Year Luck Cycle. Will the double DE neutralize the Fu Yin or enhance it?**
   - This is an **overlapping Fu-Yin (伏吟) with DE**, which has **two possible interpretations**:

   #### **1) Neutralization Effect** (Less Impact):
   - Some believe that **two DEs cancel each other out**, meaning:
     - The emptiness **becomes full**, and the DE effect is weakened.
     - If something was previously "missing" or hard to obtain, this period might **return what was lost**.
     - However, this does not mean it becomes an entirely **good** period, just that the instability may feel less extreme.

   #### **2) Enhanced Fu-Yin Effect** (More Impact):
   - Others argue that when Fu-Yin happens **with DE**, it **strengthens the feeling of stagnation and emptiness**:
     - The person may experience repeated **losses or setbacks**.
     - Career, health, or personal relationships might feel **unchanged, stuck, or lacking progress**.
     - This can be frustrating, especially if the person is waiting for change but sees no improvement.

   #### **Final Verdict**:
   - If **the elements inside Wu Chen (戊辰) are useful**, then the DE + Fu-Yin might **cause mild stagnation but not major harm**.
   - If **Wu Chen is an unfavorable element**, then the Fu-Yin can make things **worse**, leading to repeated failures or frustrations.
   - The **best strategy** is to avoid making big life changes during this period and instead focus on **preparing for the next Luck Cycle**.

---

### **4. What if a person’s Time Pillar contains all unfavorable elements? Does this indicate a bad old age?**
   - **The Time Pillar represents**:
     - **Old age** (post-60s).
     - **Children, retirement, spiritual pursuits**.
     - **Late-life luck, health, and mindset**.

   - **If the Time Pillar contains all unfavorable elements**:
     - **Yes, it may indicate struggles in old age**, but the severity depends on:
       - Whether the person **enters a good Luck Pillar later in life**.
       - Whether they have **good support from children**.
       - Whether they take early steps to **prepare for health and finances**.

   - **Common Signs of a Bad Old Age from a Weak Time Pillar**:
     - **Health Issues**: Unfavorable elements might indicate long-term illnesses or physical weakness.
     - **Loneliness**: If the Time Pillar clashes with the Day or Month Pillar, the person may have poor relationships with children.
     - **Financial Struggles**: If the Time Pillar lacks wealth elements or clashes with a previous Luck Pillar, financial issues may arise.
     - **Emotional Instability**: If the unfavorable elements are Fire or Water, the person may suffer from emotional ups and downs.

   - **Mitigation Strategies**:
     - If unfavorable elements exist, **early preparation is key**:
       - **Financial planning**: Save money early to avoid struggles later.
       - **Health maintenance**: Exercise, proper diet, and medical checkups.
       - **Spiritual balance**: Engaging in spiritual or charitable activities can bring mental peace.
       - **Good family relationships**: Staying connected with children and close ones can help avoid loneliness.

   - **Conclusion**:
     - A bad Time Pillar **does not guarantee** a bad old age, but it indicates **a need for caution and preparation**.
     - If later Luck Pillars are favorable, they can **help balance the effects**.

---

### **Final Summary**
1. **DE in Direct Officer & Hurting Officer**:
   - Can affect **career stability** and **relationship reliability**.
   - DO (正官) in DE → Unstable authority & marriage.
   - HO (伤官) in DE → Trouble expressing ideas & frustrations at work.

2. **Does DE in an Earthly Branch affect Heavenly Stems & Hidden Stems?**
   - **Primarily affects the Earthly Branch** but **weakens hidden stems**.
   - **May reduce the power of Heavenly Stems** if the branch is its root.

3. **Double DE in a Fu-Yin (Wu Chen in Year + Wu Chen in Luck Pillar)**:
   - **Can neutralize or enhance** Fu-Yin, depending on whether Wu Chen is favorable.
   - If favorable → Mild stagnation.
   - If unfavorable → Stagnation + repeated losses.

4. **If the Time Pillar has all unfavorable elements**:
   - **Yes, it may indicate struggles in old age** (health, finances, or loneliness).
   - But **proper preparation** in younger years can mitigate negative effects.

I'm just wondering if there is any good thing about having Kong Wang in Direct Officer or Hurting Officer?

it may seems bad but can it be good?
