being an employee v. having my own business (mangpai)
« on: June 22, 2020, 08:26:14 PM »
Hello everyone!

I've been learning BaZi for a long time and I took a lot of courses from different masters. I notice that even in the traditional school there are different approaches to reading of someone's chart, and depending of the approach that you use, you get pretty conflicting results on the same issue. And the question of the best option for me - being an employee or having my own business - was the most debatable, so I wonder how Mangpai will answer it. (Recently purchased several books on Mangpai and so far at the very beginning of my journey, so I will be happy of any help in decoding this chart  :) )

Thank you, JLim.

If you don't mind, could you help me to shed light on some aspects in this chart? As I understand Fire+Wood+Dry Earth forms one team and Metal+Wet Earth forms another one, and the first one controls the second? And how would you grade this chart?

Wouldn't you think that it's more the second controls the first one in this case, Astroman? Have you assessed which gang is stronger in the natal chart?

What is your birth city and time?

And you are male, correct?  Astro"man" does not guarantee that you are male, though.

Look at this chart, Astroman: https://bazi-calculator.com/?licz=1&src=1&n=Crozier%2C+Emma+Elizabeth&h=15%3A31&d=6&m=04&y=1990&l=-3.57&g=0&ds=on&s=1&rr=AA

You're correct, I'm male  ;D

Maybe I'm missing something but Fire+Wood+Dry Earth looks stronger than Metal+Wet Earth

Astroman, if you do a simple calculation of number of elements, then how many are there?

Fire+Wood+Dry Earth: ... elements
Metal+Wet Earth: ... elements

OMG  ;D I know what you mean. I don't know why but I counted Chen as a Dry Earth element before...

As for LP Gui Wei, in traditional Bazi Gui is favourable element because it helps to balance the chart. But will it be considered the same in Mangpai? Will this element be considered supportive for the Metal+Wet Earth team or weakening since Metal produces Water?
Wei is unfavourable element and I believe it will be the same in Mangpai (it will support the team that under control and clash with Chou that, I think, is the main element in the cart performance) so it won't bring good results?

Hi Astroman,

I understand that traditionally Gui is used to mediate between the abundant Metal (Geng's) with Yi.   It's called mediating useful god 通關用神.

However... I'm afraid that's not the way it works in Mangpai.   The intention of the chart is to control Wei, and Wei swaps image with Yi.  Gui produces or strengthens Yi, so Gui is not auspicious.

On the other hand, Gui swaps image with Chou, so it's time for Chou to control Wei.  This is auspicious.

It looks a bit complicated, but at the same time quite an interesting approach to reading of someone's chart. Ultimately, what results can I expect from this pillar? Because the two interactions you have indicated essentially nullify each other.

Yi and Wei both can be seen as representing Wealth, because Wei is Wealth Tomb
I said above that one side is auspicious, but on another side is inauspicious.  So, it's just a so-so development of wealth.  What goes up can easily decline in this LP, and conversely what you see as going down may be recovered.
