The following is a BaZi reading of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, as explained by my teacher, Kim Byung-woo. Since I had access to the chart from Ren's original post, I thought it was only right to share his insights with the rest of the forum. (Thank you, Ren!)
The original lecture is over 90 minutes long, so I have summarized it. If you would like to read the full, detailed version, please visit my blog at

Venezuelan President Maduro's BaZi Reading<Natal Chart>H D M Y
丙乙辛壬
戌丑亥寅
<Day of Arrest>H D M Y
辛丁戊乙
丑丑子巳
Introduction: The lecture begins by comparing the day of Maduro's arrest to his natal chart, saying it looked "as if he was picked out with tweezers and taken away."
Key Premise: Politicians generally need strong Fire (火) in their chart.
Fire symbolizes drive, mass mobilization, conviction, and leadership.
The higher a society's cultural maturity, the more likely it is to select a Fire-dominant leader. When Fire is excessive, however, the person tends to change their words often and appear exaggerated, which can undermine trust.
The year 2026, the Bing-Wu (丙午) year, is described as a year of unpredictability and "maximum output," and Maduro's chart is interpreted within that broader context.
Side Effects of Strong FireWhen Fire is dominant, a person may interfere excessively in others' lives and push relationships too forcefully.
From the Water (水) perspective, Fire appears unreliable, theatrical, and untrustworthy. Water emphasizes critical thinking, moral standards, and self-restraint.
Core of Maduro's Chart Interpretation: Metal generating Water + the Hai-Zi-Chou (亥子丑) combination
With Ren Water (壬) in the Hai month (亥月) supported by Xin Metal (辛), Metal generates Water, creating strong "order-maintenance, freezing, condensation" energy.
The Hai-Zi-Chou directional combination in the Earthly Branches is likened to an environment of "abandoned mining towns, underdevelopment, stagnation, freezing," and is linked to Venezuela's rise and fall (from an oil powerhouse to decline).
This is contrasted with the Si-Wu-Wei (巳午未) combination, which symbolizes an environment of "activation, operation, development."
The Hai-Zi-Chou tendency, according to the lecture, manifests in one's work, hobbies, and personal relationships not as movement, but as "monitoring, rules, and sanctions."
Limits of a Direct Resource (Zheng Yin, 正印)-type PresidentMaduro is a Zheng Yin (正印) structure operating through Seven Killings (Pian Guan, 偏官) in a "killing-and-resource mutual generation" pattern. This makes him strongly oriented toward establishing and maintaining principles and order, but slow in adapting to change. Even if he had many intellectual advisers, it did not necessarily translate into political success. In this view, Maduro became president less by personal ambition than because he was "a president produced by the times."
The Role of a Resource-type StrategistA Wealth-type strategist expands options and opportunities, while a Resource-type strategist specializes in designing survival and victory. Historically, the victors' narratives have always had Resource-type figures beside them. By contrast, Output-type figures are more likely to become expendable scapegoats.
Maduro's Weakness: Weak Companions (Bi-Jie, 比劫)
He has Officer and Resource, and even sufficient Wealth, but his Companions (Bi-Jie) are weak, meaning his base of support is fragile. He should have consolidated and operated supportive power blocs (Bi-Jie), such as major capital owners and industrial elites. Instead, he failed to do so. Strategically, sustaining industry and the support base was necessary for political survival, more so than supporting the poorest classes.
The Arrest Day Pillars: "Wealth Controlling Resource" and the "Tweezers" Imagery of Ding Fire
The natal chart is "strong Resource, weak Wealth," while the day of arrest flips to "weak Resource, strong Wealth." In this framework, Wealth controlling Resource becomes the day when the dignity, ideals, and moral positioning of a Zheng Yin figure collapse under practical reality (Wealth).
Ding Fire (丁) is interpreted as "pinpoint selection." Unlike Bing Fire (丙), which publicizes and amplifies events, Ding Fire isolates a target and extracts it. This is used to illustrate the arrest as an act of being "picked out and taken away."
Expansion into Crime, Corruption, and Survival LogicThe presence of an inauspicious god, especially Hurting Officer (Shang Guan, 傷官), is used to argue a drift toward "any method is acceptable if it makes money." This extends into a broader claim that low-income states may become dependent on criminal economies, and the argument is generalized using per-capita GDP as a practical benchmark.
Main Points of the Luck Pillars (Da Yun) ReadingThe natal configuration centers on Metal generating Water, but as Luck Pillars move forward, the Jia-Yin (甲寅) and Yi-Mao (乙卯) phases allow Water to generate Wood, strengthening his support base. Because he is born in the Hai month, however, the chart's ceiling does not reach Wood generating Fire (木生火). It stops at Water generating Wood (水生木), implying he focused only on personal security rather than broader welfare. Later, as the cycle enters Wood-to-Fire luck (Yi-Si, 乙巳; Bing-Wu, 丙午), he enters a period of "having to explain himself," and a political "tail-cutting" phase?a purge or forced severing.
Conclusion
Maduro's luck and chart are strong in "maintaining order and freezing/stagnation," but weak in "developmental activation and operation."
His arrest is framed through Wealth controlling Resource and Ding Fire as an event in which dignity collapses under reality and the target is precisely extracted.
From a Useful God (Yongshen, 用神) perspective, "suppressing Useful God" luck (Direct Wealth) manifests as external, involuntary control, while "support Useful God" luck (Companions) manifests as support and backing. Ultimately, the arrest is presented as the result of "coercive force from environment and timing (luck)."
