what happened to the fivearts.info website? Is the website closed?

No one knows exactly.

We have bits and pieces of information on hand however.

1. The .info site was effectively abandoned for a while (spam posts was popping up a lot and was not being managed by the staff of .info), this particular aspect is never a good sign for a forum as it usually means it is being neglected and could close at any point.

2. The .info domain named was renewed approximately 8 months prior to its first big service down time. This was eventually renewed again after the domain had expired for a while. This suggests that the owner did not intend to close the site, else they would not have renewed prior and after it did expire.

3. There was minor attempts to bring it back up online a few times, including after the down time. However, this came a lot later and by that time, many users had effectively abandoned hope of it coming back. Eventually the domain sale option from the registrar was not showing up at all. This coincided with the domain renewal which leads until the end of the year of 2024. However, nothing has come from these attempts.

Given the lack of access to the domain now, whereas before it was reaching a server that was not providing a service, it would not be out of the question to assume that .info is now permanently closed.

Did this fivearts.org website exist after fivearts.info was closed?  Or did it exist before fivearts.info?  Because as long as I remember, when fivearts.info still existed, I also saw the fivearts.org website

It existed a few years after .info came about. Many are/were originals from .net that turned up to .info to congregate. Then there was a disagreement between users and staff over how things were conducted over at .info and thus a split came up. It was then that .org was formed and they have been running concurrently, until .info went dark.

Thanks for the info! It was sad to see the old forum go away, as it contained some crucial information for learning Chinese Metaphysics.

Going back in time

Hi all, so far, there have been 3 fivearts forums.  I am a witness of their history as a moderator/staff in all three, but this forum is the only one that I founded together with @PdStelle .

Just to add on what @The-Monk said, I established fivearts.org (this forum) in 2017, while fivearts.info (the one that's gone) existed from 2014-2023.
Prior to fivearts.info, the first forum was fivearts.net, that existed from 2005-2013.

I had an auto subscription to fivearts.info and when I noticed I was billed via paypal for the non-working site I requested a refund and paypal contacted fiverarts.info person and they happily refunded the money. Not sure why they happily accepted the money knowing the site was not up. They offered no explanation. :-)

Ahhhh that's a pity. They spent so much money to retrieve info from fivearts.net only to go off themselves. I assume My Little Pony still kept a copy of the database.

I'm not sure about the spams but the last time i was there doing some translations, i got banned in the midst of my translations. There was another notice saying that they do not entertain any appeals. I think they banned my mentor ArtOfFugue too.
