A person wanted to buy a PC monitor that was on promotion (a friend was giving him lower price then the retail one). The question was along the lines of "How will everything be if I buy that monitor?". He is asking and making the hexagram.

And got this:

Briefly I try to give my answer :

The person that asking "How will everything be if I buy that monitor?".
Is frustrating from his friend's changing price  from initial offer ..!!
Perhaps next day from divination was The deal .. but without agreement. .
The retail price is the cause that he don't decide to buy the PC monitor ..
Till today he is still indecisive to buy from hisfriend's offer ..
Perhaps he buy from other provider in better price ...
..

This is very logical, yea.
As Sibling moves back to control itself(and with clash) gives the idea that the friend may reconsider or deal to fall apart.
I got it wrong back then and also thought that.


However, it isn't how it went. Will post after some more time how it went, curious if someone can get it right, as I couldn't back then.

Probably fair to clarify that line 6 may not be the friend selling the monitor, as the person asking was my brother.

2. What is the subject of query ?.... he said as query "How will everything be if I buy that monitor?"
It doesn't make sense ..!! What he expects after buying it ? .. more clarification is needed !!
3. I gave a probable  decipher  this Hexagram seems to inform ....
4. There are two Sibbling moving lines ...not one .. and is useful that on the 2nd line that has much affinity with Ti Self 1st line ..

2. This is interesting. We cleared that out again, as it has been a while since then. He wasn't asking about the monitor. The exact question was "How will the situation develop if I buy that monitor". The idea is he wants to know if there are any potential problems(we cleared out that afterwards ).

4. Yea I think that is the friend turns to the Asset that combines with Ti, means monitor will be good.

End result - he got the monitor and was very happy with it(already been 1 month since then). I had a lot of problems reading it as I assumed monitor is Wei, but now I just think second line is Friend turning to the Monitor, meaning the friend will bring it.

Hi Gmuli, I prefer the format that you plot with your own program better than the one you posted, because your program contains the Six Animals.  So, I'm replotting with my favorite Chinese format (same hexagrams)



Here is my take on it:
The PC monitor being evaluated is Others Wealth line Wei, as you originally thought, Gmuli.  What does the Others line represent? It's what the querent is asking about, whether a person, company or object.  And in this case, it's a PC monitor. 

If the Wealth line does not fall on the Others line, then it's more complicated.  But in this case, we call it "proper god on the proper line" （正神正位）

Self line Zi is very strong, because it's produced by the Month and is the same season as the Day.  Weaker Wei overcoming stronger Zi has the meaning that Zi likes this Wei.  In plain language, it means that the querent likes this monitor.  And so far, after one month, he has liked it!

Second line Chou would not be the monitor because Chou is in Kong Wang (emptiness).  We don't want to get an "empty" PC monitor, because the quality would be dubious.  Instead, Chou as Wealth in emptiness means that the price is reduced. 

Does the querent's friend (who offered this monitor) run a computer store?

The friend was selling a monitor that he bought for himself as he was going to travel, so it was cheaper. I think he wasn't working in computer store, not sure about details though.

My interpretation would be that he get the monitor at lower price as intended (from second line brother turn into asset) , but what does the other moving line mean ? (five and six ) ,  All the question is what is the useful god in this case ?  if he ask about weither everything will be fine with his monitor (therefore useful god is Child 子孙 ) , or weither he will get really the deal (mean useful god is asset money wealth star 妻 . If it s Child therefore there would be some problem with his monitor because five line from CHild it turn into parent and killed back  , and six line from brother turn into officer that is killed back.Bu if it s the wealth line therefore , it turn to good for the six line, as it s officer and it mean helping god. Therefore he will secure his deal (officer secure asset) and therefore surely will have his deal without problem.

Indeed it s very interresting analyse,  Do you think that second changed line in changed hex is linked to the fourth changed line in same hex ? can we consider it as a link ? (it s seems to mean that the link is low price between self and other line - )

I m not aware of the weak wei conquer strong zi rule, do you know other same kind of rule like this ?

Six line was me since when I read it initially I told him to buy it, as back then I was looking almost entirely only at the strength of Ti line, if Ti line was fine I was usually "go for it".
So sibling line(and he is my brother) on line 6(someone outside of the situation looking at the other lines), seems to fit.

So while I was supporting the Asset line(monitor) initially, I moved to a position of supporting my brothers line instead. That was what I couldn't understand, as that would suggest supporting my brother started to show up when the idea changed to "not buy".

However, few hours passed by and as I thought about it I started to wonder if the monitor is on asset and if it was, if buying it was the best idea no matter how strong was Ti. However at that point there was no way to call him and when we could talk again the whole thing was in motion.

Overall it is complicated, but I'm guessing Jlims way of reading it was what happened.

I think something like that would be reasonable analyse : you are asking for your brother is self line , the other party is the one that have the monitor in his hand  (the original owner of monitor )  is the objecf line. Therefore the self line is you , and your brother and you wanted to have good value for your money (cheaper as possible) . I don't know what it s the interepretation of five moving line (maybe other partie as some doubt about something ) , but in the end of the day the deal is secure because of the officer of six line.
I was just confuse at first about what does this question mean "How will everything be if I buy that monitor" , because it s seems to imply that there is not problem to buy the monitor (for exemple buy a monitor from a standard PC shop , except when out of stock, maybe that s why JLim asked about a PC Store  ) , but if there will be problem after the monitor is owned by new owner.  if that was the case ,  I would have use Child star as useful god. But if the question is about the deal , if it will happen and if this deal is good for a specific price, I would use  Wealth star.  Anyway it s good to know what really happened at the end of the day , thankx

Because if something happen, it mean that there is thing that is broken and you need to go to repair it or change something etc ... Then this is Parent star, but as you don't want that , then Child will be the appointed. But in fact your question was about price and deal  then it s wealth star .

Just my brother. I did take his old monitor, though, but I don't know if that is connected.

Day and month of asking are very important influence, of course, but not looking at that for a second, only for the relations you are doing very good work, in my view.
